Oh man that sounds terrible! On our adventure when we did the cut over, the CTO wasn't there for it (obvs) and he'd designed the SF architecture. So we upped the SF instance to ensure we could keep up, since we were doing roughly 120mm rows a day. 4 days on that instance cost over $100k.

@jessethanley @warhsn @PlanetScale @MostlyTechPod I can one-up that. CTO at a previous company forced Engineering to build a data lake to replace querying each other's APIs. We had to copy all of our data into it using Firehose and Glue, which ballooned costs and meant the other teams would get day+ old data.
