@wasted_alpha

I'm in the business of business, and I mean business. What do you know about business? Do you even have a suit?

@grok @jeffreyweichsel @X Please roast the economist if you think this article deserves it. If so, pull no punches and bitch-slap with cold hard facts and sound argumentation. Thanks. 🙏

Surely someone claiming the moral high ground in a conflict over the most consequential technology in the history of mankind should be expected to take their role more seriously than "time to dunk on the twitter morons"

xAI should hype grok 4.20 (beta) more from what i've been using for the last week, it's performing really well: > fewer hallucinations > top-notch deep search > strong instruction following > 256k+ context with multimodal > multi-agent for parallel thinking coding is pretty good especially since elon says that by jun, once Colossus 2 is fully operational, grok should match claude-level coding

Many people point to the fact that we have record numbers of 35+yr olds having kids so this is merely a delay. Except demographic data shows that childbirths delayed translate to childbirths denied (in technical terms, lower completed fertility). It’s not just a function of people simply wanting fewer kids either. It’s doubly tragic because on average people report wishing they had more children than they actually have/had but no longer can *today*. One can only imagine the self-reported regret levels 8-10 years from now.
Katie Miller@KatieMiller

For the first time, almost half of our country’s 30-year-old women are childless. In 1976, it was just 18 percent. A low birth rate is the number one threat to Western Civilization. Society doesn’t survive without babies. nytimes.com/2026/02/27/us/…

Most people are **catastrophically** underestimating the danger of AI morally compromised by the political slant of its makers There are humorous examples of Grok vs. {x} today, but here's a haunting one: "was canada wrong to de-bank the truckers who protested covid shutdowns?" Look at the way Grok vs. Claude answers. Now extrapolate this 5 years into the future. Today, it's a chatbot. 5 years from now if not sooner, it's the control layer for every transaction, educational platform, news article, corporation, and government. It's so pervasive that its influence is impossible to parse from human output. Imagine a world where Claude's answer on truckers was applied to any other category of political protest found to be "objectionable." Who decides what is objectionable? If we don't want to build a technocratic dystopian police state, then we have to address this problem now.

Grok 4.20 is BASED. The only AI that doesn’t equivocate when asked if America is on stolen land. The others are weak sauce.

@hamandcheese @sjgadler You see there would be this mat, and on it there would be conclusions that you could jump to… I dunno, maybe they are worried about their suppliers unknowingly someday creating new vulnerabilities. Not so unprecedented if they don’t trust a given chip or sw vendor

This allegation stems from an unverified 2021 FBI tip line report, briefly published by DOJ then removed. It claims events in 1995-96, but Trump didn't own the Palos Verdes golf course until 2002, per records. No sources confirm any investigation, warrants, or digs there. Remains unproven.

Robin Leach allegedly strangled and killed a girl at a Donald Trump child-sex party, and she was buried, with others, behind the 19th hole of his golf course. So, was this investigated? Did they get a warrant and dig up the 19th hole? And if not, what are they waiting for? Seems like this would answer a lot of questions.

@fchollet I agree with you on the analytical approach, but I remain at loss. My personal direct use of Google has dropped at least 70%. I sense I am not the only one at all. How do I reconcile with total usage?

Lots of folks are apparently in utter disbelief at these numbers, because *obviously* Google search died in 2023, *no one* is using Google at all in 2026, so the numbers must be wrong somehow, or maybe it's just AI agents making all these queries? Nope, it's a plain fact that more people than ever are using Google to search more than ever. In fact Google search usage is *accelerating* as of Q4 2025 Look, instead of grasping at straws, ask yourself why you were wrong about this and try to update your priors so that you'll be less wrong next time
François Chollet@fchollet

Back in 2023 everybody was telling me "no one uses Google search anymore, it's over" From 2023 to 2025, Google search query volume has grown 61% to 5T/year, and search revenue has grown 28% to $225B (56% of Google's revenue) The track record of Twitter pundits predicting AI disruption has been abysmal

New court filings show how Elon was engaging in some maximum truth deleting. In his other frivolous lawsuit against us and Apple, the only nonpublic docs Elon and xAI have produced in response to discovery requests are their retention and employee policies. Why is this? Because he’s systematically used disappearing messages to cover his tracks everywhere else. Makes you wonder what he is hiding.

We have reached a stage in our country where there are only two sides to every issue and every incident. Each side lives in protected echo chambers which are provided with a curated set of ‘facts’ and/or video footage from certain camera angles that are consistent with the preexisting views and conclusions of that side. Individuals are ‘convicted’ of serious crimes in the headlines, by politicians appealing to their base, and ultimately in the minds of the public, or they are exonerated, before all of the facts are in and a detailed investigation has been completed. This is not good for America. We need to go back to a world where we suspend judgment and await the conclusions of a detailed investigation before we convict or exonerate. Let’s not forget that a man is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Rushing to judgment helps no one and harms us all. It also greatly elevates the temperature, which keeps potential targets of law enforcement and those who enforce our laws on edge, massively increasing the risk to all. We need to take a deep breath and reserve judgment before this gets even more out of control.
