As Maya Angelou said, 'When you know better, you do better. Trauma can be inherited, but so can healing. Learn how our choices today can break chains of dysfunction for future generations. @drwillcole

I've talked to many of you who are miserable in your jobs. You need to build leverage. It doesn't happen overnight but start as soon as you can. Some people build a project on the side. I built an audience. Here is my advice in 3 parts. This is what I did and what worked for me. My advice differs from what many others will tell you: First, be willing to do what nobody else is doing. I started writing about machine learning in 2020. Every person I found talked about research papers using words I couldn't pronounce. I did something different. I started writing about mundane topics using simple words. No math, no fancy language. I spoke to people like me who didn't work for a research lab. It worked. One day, AI became cool. The crypto influencers changed their focus and flooded the internet with content. They did the bare minimum to attract attention: they wrote about tools, links, and courses. They focused on the "what" but never told you the "why." Good creators went one step further and made their content 10x better by telling you the "why" of things. This is much harder to do. But you have to be willing to do what nobody else is doing. I started talking about the "what" and the "why," but I didn't stop there. I started talking about the "how" as well. This is the secret that kept people coming back to my content. Second, you have to put in the work. You have to be consistent, but I don't agree with one of the most popular recommendations I've seen online. People tell you that quantity is better than quality. This is some attempt to please the algorithm, but I only care about pleasing people. If your writing is bad, you'll end up with the wrong audience. Of course, you need repetitions but don't write because you have to check an imaginary box. Write with intention and purpose. Write to become better. Instead of writing more, start editing more. I use @typefully to write everything I post on X and LinkedIn. They are the gold standard, and I've been using their app for years: typefully.com Don't post the same day you write. Instead, schedule your content for a week later and review it the day before. This is a big deal. By waiting a week before you post and looking at it again, the quality of your content will improve. A lot! My third piece of advice is to watch your analytics and use them to guide you. Peter Drucker said, "You can't manage what you can't measure." @typefully gives me a lot of numbers. I focus on Top Posts, Engagement During the Day, Impressions, and Profile Clicks. You'll see some of them in the attached screenshot. It's simple: I look for what works to do more of it and move away from what doesn't. I made this sound simple, but I know it isn't. If building an audience was a piece of cake, everyone would do it. I believe, however, that everyone should try. It will give you leverage.

The “lasts” sneak up on you in parenting. Ask any parent of grown kids, and they’ll tell you how quickly it goes by. Embrace the small moments before they're gone!

If we've told our kids the same thing over and over, and they still don't get it, who's the slow learner?

A mistake we parents often make is to expect our older kids to be the “mature ones.” Yet they’re just kids, too. Give them the grace they deserve.

In parenting, as in life, we often say more than necessary. Say it, mean it, and then give it space. Not just good parenting, but perhaps a life lesson too!

Controversial take: Family fun isn't always fun. And there are real benefits of one-on-one time with your kids. Dads, what's your take on this?

Navigating your child's big emotions isn't easy. L.R. Knost said it best: When little people are overwhelmed by big emotions, it's our job to share our calm, not join their chaos. Be the calm in your child's storms!
