the figma -> quicktime -> davinci -> youtube workflow is killing us slowly

@figma You would kill some startups by letting us use images as prototype backgrounds and building in screen recording

My dog met Santa Claus at the boarding place where we left her for the weekend. I think they traumatized her.

We're honored to be a part of this important conversation on Dec. 15 at the SEC Roundtable. Excited to contribute our perspective (and share a cool demo!) on how privacy-preserving digital identity can strengthen trust, security, and usability across the crypto ecosystem. 🫡

JUST IN: 🇺🇸🏛️ The SEC has updated the agenda for its Dec. 15 roundtable on crypto, financial surveillance, and privacy — featuring Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox, and other crypto and blockchain leaders.

Utah’s SB260 sets a new standard for digital ID: user-controlled, privacy-first, and free from surveillance. It bans forced device handovers, ensures selective disclosure, and keeps digital ID optional. It is a model for the future of identity. Link in 🧵

Having to submit entire ID just to check into a hotel is messed up. DIDs and ZKPs were big last cycle but slowed down. With apps like @worldcoin we might have a way to verifiably associate credentials to personhood and @privy_io can be aggregator for these VCs in turn finally creating a sensible identity system.

i'm moving to seattle this weekend and would love to get plugged into the crypto community there. who should i meet? >> i definitely miss working as part of a team sometimes and particularly irl interactions (my favorite part about spending time in nyc every few months-year and going to crypto conferences) and this will be my first time living in a somewhat major city in over 3 years so i would love to get back into hanging out with people irl regularly

A snippet of the two takes. This is simple enough that everyone can have a view on what they prefer I think this is a fork in the road path with different versions of the simulation on either side (changing an env variable). Curious how it’ll turn out

I think an impending online conflict in 2025: more sun in the morning or in the evening? We’ll likely end the switching between daylight savings time in the US, but I’ve noticed two distinct sides here. Which do you prefer? Are you an early bird or night owl? Examples below👇

When I was looking for my next opportunity in crypto, I had two things on my wishlist: 🟪 Focus on a technical product 🟪 Bring my product sense into crypto marketing Joining Mina as a PMM was the perfect fit. Everything that originally attracted me to blockchain all needs private but verifiable data. It’s been so refreshing to work with a team who believes strongly in the future of the technology & is shipping cool things. I've been diving deep on ZK, on proof systems, on the competitive landscape, and working on how we best communicate everything the Mina ecosystem is working on. The future is a private, provable web and I’m excited for what 2025 has in store for @MinaProtocol 🥳
Andrea Rodriguez@iam_andrearod

The dream team grows 🙌 Thrilled to welcome @lagunacarta to the team as our new Product Marketing Manager! She brings the perfect blend of technical knowledge and degen instincts, making her uniquely equipped to position @MinaProtocol tech for its upcoming first wave of end-users and growing developer community. Privacy & identity is what got her into web3 in the first place before going down the rabbit hole. Coming from the Solana ecosystem and NFT space, she’s already dropping valuable GTM insights from her experience with other projects. Analytical, connected—and an incredible sidekick! We kick around ideas so naturally and strategically; it’s been amazing. Excited and honored to work side by side! Lets go 2025.

what is the most successful example of a crypto application that is purely non-financial? does such a thing exist? people used to theorize about identity or data in the past — has this materialized? will it?

That’s a daft take Tim. There are plenty of legit use cases and businesses in crypto: -USDC allows you to make borderless payments without remittance fees. -@aave has permissionless lending markets. -@blackbird is onchain loyalty programs, exchangeable peer to peer for top restaurants -@farcaster_xyz is a decentralized social network preventing censorship -@LensProtocol is a tool for building decentralized social networks, and has been used to build out blogs that can’t be censored by hostile regimes. -@bountycaster is a peer to peer task marketplace that lets anyone request work, prove they’ve paid for the bounty, and anyone claim that bounty, without middlemen. -DDocs by @fileverse is a decentralized alternative to Google Docs, giving you cloud document storage without selling your data to Google. -@helium_mobile is a distributed peer-to-peer cellular network run on a blockchain, that offers mobile plans right now. -@Hivemapper is a Google Maps alternative built through peer-to-peer mapping, making geolocation data available to everyone. -@Dmailofficial offers decentralized and encrypted peer-to-peer email without selling your data to advertisers -@ensdomains creates a web standard naming system alternative to DNS that isn’t susceptible to the same DNS hacks that registrars have, creating secure, uncensorable domains. -@xmtp_ creates an open standard messaging protocol for notifications or chat, that avoids vendor lockin, or selling your data to Facebook and Google just to keep in touch with people. @viamirror is a Wordpress/Tumblr alternative that’s decentralization means you aren’t locked in and can publish and manage your content without platform threat. @oakcurrency is a local barter currency in Oakland California, that lets small merchants (like farmers markets and local shops) cut out large payment processors in transactions and create p2p bartering networks. @goldfinch_fi - creates opportunities for microloans to users in developing countries that normally wouldn’t be manageable due to payment method mismatch and high remittance fees. And all that just to name a few. There are literally thousands of legitimate use cases and businesses in crypto. Even if you don’t know them, that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. It’s a trillion dollar industry for a reason.

Think you can tell if a social media account is a bot? What about as AI gets better? A new paper—co-authored with researchers from ~20 orgs, & my OpenAI teammates Zoë Hitzig and David Schnurr—asks this question: What are AI-proof ways to tell who’s real online? (1/n)
