@drjenwolkin That does sound like me, but I fail the official test for ADHD. However I think the testing wasn’t built with high-achieving women in mind. Also, three hours of sleep.

We do NOT all have ADHD. If we did, ALL of us would hyperfixate on a new hobby, buy all the supplies, ghost it after 2 weeks, then spiral about being “lazy” while running on 4 hours of sleep. XO, Dr. Jen

@KSeattleWeather I. The fifties, the popular play (and movie) The Seven Year Itch was based on the unpleasantness of NYC in summer. I doubt it’s less unpleasant now?

@amjuster @AlaskaAir I remember it being better, but it's been a while. Paper cups of water in first class...and no screens for entertainment? Kind of a bummer. (That's aside from the food allergy concerns.)

Is @AlaskaAir trying to kill wheat allergic people? Request for gluten free food. Was served a snack loose on a plate -the flight attendant didn’t know if it had wheat but my husband said had pretzels. Sigh. Wish airlines were more careful! #foodallergies #airlinefood #dobetter

@AlaskaAir Here’s a suggestion: do not serve unlabeled unpackaged food. Peanuts were at least labeled and in a package not loose! Wheat allergy is just as serious.

@Steven_Hyden They should not be writers. If you don't like editing, writing, revising, then don't be a writer. Definitely don't offload it to AI. That person is destroying her own creative brain.

Depressing to come on here & see pro writers/journalists talk about using AI to "streamline" the process of writing. Really shows how many players have no love for the game. The process is the whole point! Trying to figure it out, & then figuring it out, is why you write!

Portion of a contract from a literary magazine to a writer. 😮 Does this look reasonable to you? (Emphases mine.)

@BeckyLTuch One of my professors told me a story about he and his friends trying to get a poem in the New Yorker by putting the word 'gazebo' in it, and it worked for at least one of them.

Have you ever edited a poem/essay/short story with the express hope of publishing in a certain magazine? Not just trimmed word count, made a theme more overt, etc. But actually tried to match the work to the magazine? Is this something writers do (to publish in lit mags)?

@moniza_hossain I ask this question to poets ALL the time. If you don't like reading poetry, but you want to publish poetry, I'm confused.

It’s funny how we are constantly having the “should writers have to read?” discourse, when the question should be “why are you even writing stories if you don’t like them?”What made you want to create something you’ve never enjoyed?

America is quickly becoming a place where you’re more likely to be arrested and prosecuted for trying to access abortion after a rape than you would be for committing rape. There’s something deeply wrong with this. The hatred of women is on full display.
