In the Gulag archipelago, Soltzhenitskyn describes a network of prison camps where people were abused and denied their human rights, with the full acquiescence of the State. Little did he realize how the gulag extends into the archipelago of mental health centres in the West.
Mental Health & Law@WeCareAboutMH

And this Archipelago crisscrossed and patterned that other country within which was located, like a gigantic patchwork, cutting into its cities, hovering over its streets. Yet there were many who did not guess at its presence and many, many others who had heard something vague

The Labour govt has dismissed the concerns of over 100,000 Brits who requested a public inquiry into Israeli lobbying of our politicians. Wonder what they are trying to hide?
Chris Williamson@DerbyChrisW

Well, well, well. I've just received an email from the House of Commons saying the govt won't support a public inquiry into pro-Israel lobbying activity our politics & democracy. Not surprising considering how many cabinet ministers and MPs are bankrolled by pro-Israel lobbyists

@abierkhatib @muhammadshehad2 Those soldiers made a choice to commit atrocities or to be complicit in atrocities. They didn't have the moral backbone to stand up for their values. That is NOT moral injury.

@muhammadshehad2 How do people lose their humanity completely? I couldn’t treat anyone, even someone I hate the way they treat Palestinians. I can’t understand how cruelty like starving people or celebrating the killing of children becomes normal or even enjoyable.

🚨Must read: Israeli soldiers with moral injury admit to unspeakable atrocities they committed in Gaza. They say it "reminded [them] of the Holocaust." One says they put a Gazan civilian in cage, stripped him down, a soldier peed on him while the others laughed Another emptied his machine gun into an elderly man with 3 children. When the commander came to the site, he spat on the bodies & called them "sons of bitches." Another soldier says they encountered an unarmed Palestinian civilian who held his hands up. An Israeli soldier "came near him, waited a few seconds & just fired, without asking questions, without the suspect doing anything," then reported the incident as a "terrorist eliminated." Another describes how IDF Soldiers "would just take pleasure in destruction" & stealing the belongings of murdered Palestinians. He said soldiers would steal "electric appliances, gold necklaces, cash, everything" & "called it a blessing to steal from [Palestinians]." NONE of those soldiers have ever been held accountable, despite their public confessions to their crimes. The IDF refuses to even recognize "moral injury" as a mental disorder because it negates their propaganda slogan that "Israel has the world's most moral army." Instead, the IDF quietly calls it "identity injury" to imply those soldiers are to blame for feeling bad about murdering Palestinians.

@muhammadshehad2 It is grotesque to talk about moral injury in context of soldiers committing war atrocities. These soldiers chose to commit atrocities and their comrades chose to be complicit. Moral injury is reserved for impossible situations where there was no other choice but to cause harm.

@iaini10 @Nick191953 @yinkanubi Because they have nothing to gain by making things up, because they are independent, because they are professionals motivated by humanitarian concerns and because there are multiple doctors giving the same evidence. They are certainly more credible than the IDF.

If you have not watched the BBC documentary on the killing of children in Gaza, I would implore you to please watch it. They documented over 160 cases. 95 of the children were shot in the head and chest. If this doesn't trigger you, nothing else will. youtu.be/orR7H8GnhCY?si…

This piece on Gaza by Eyal Weizman of Forensic Architecture has already been widely circulated, and is almost unbearable to read. The very first paragraph lays out in inarguable terms why Gaza was, and is, a genocide. lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v48/…

@LarryMishel @Mr_Considerate What about the numerous quotations from members of adminstration declaring intent. Galant and Herzog saying that all Gazans are animals & equally guilty. Netanyahu declaring his intention to starve the population. Hagari outlining military plans to raze the city to ground.

Five Israeli prison guards who raped a Palestinian inmate-hostage at the notorious torture camp Sde Teiman are being return to military service. Rape of prisoners is widely supported by the Israeli public, politicians, law officers – and now officially by the Israeli army.

@MIKELANGELO_101 @playmints @Jonathan_K_Cook No, I look at available evidence. Evidence that Israeli civilians were raped on October 7 is weak (no 1st hand evidence) and contested. Evidence that Palestinians are tortured & sexually abused in Israeli prisons is overwhelming. This includes admissions by Israeli prison staff.

@MIKELANGELO_101 @playmints @Jonathan_K_Cook The usual bullshit from the committed zionist. Hospitals don't automatically become valid targets because terrorists are in the vicinity, the proportionality test must be satisified. If those hospitals shelter hundreds of civilians, then targeting them remains a war crime.

@WeCareAboutMH @playmints @Jonathan_K_Cook You believe non-truths, distorted facts, and out-of-context nonsense. In wars, if hospitals harbor terrorists and are used as their bases, they are no longer considered hospitals and become legitimate targets. That’s just one example to address your misconceptions.

@MIKELANGELO_101 @playmints @Jonathan_K_Cook The evidence is very weak. Those investigating were unable to obtain first hand testimony. We also know that Israeli first responders fabricated evidence about the beheadings. As prison abuses, there is lots of first hand evidence which the authorities choose to ignore.

@MIKELANGELO_101 @playmints @Jonathan_K_Cook But you don't really, that's obvious from your tweets today. You don't respect any Palestinians whether they respect you or not. How could you be so dismissive of the 20,000 children killed in Gaza. Of the wholesale destruction of civilian infrastructure, including half hospitals

I consider full human beings with full human rights everyone who conducts themselves civilly, ethically, and morally, cherishes the sanctity of life, and rejects the murder and death cult and doctrine. I respect all those who respect me and my right to live peacefully, wherever I may be and whatever race or religion I am from. I consider subhuman those who believe that infidels to their doctrine deserve death or subjugation.
