The always excellent @SueSuezep asked earlier why Nadine Dorries was so keen on getting a peerage. Well I think for 4 reasons: 1) She's already in line for a super final salary index-linked pension from her time in the Commons but that's probably not enough .. 2) As a Peer she'll be able to trouser £300 a day (tax free of course) for turning up to each sitting-day. Note that 'turning up' simply means signing in and out, there's no requirement to contribute to the business of the Upper house. This is right up Dorries's alley (if you'll forgive the phrase) 3) If she does turn up and hangs around until midday ish, she can enjoy a very agreeable lunch subsidised by us, the tax payers. £54 for a 3 course lunch in central London - nice! resdiary-prod.azureedge.net/uploads/uk/663… 4) Dorries is an appallingly inverted snob and loves the idea that posh people will have to refer to her as 'Lady Dorries'.
