Love this piece! One of my favorite poses too. Here’s a self portrait I did a few years ago alongside its (far superior) inspiration by Käthe Kollwitz in a similar display.

@weidlergroff @lizisamused We were discussing the difference between fun photos that might be a little revealing, such as vacation photos on the beach vs Facebook, insta, etc photos that are clearlt personal advertisements, like showing some skin while looking seductively at the camera

My guy just gave this the best explanation to this: risk to relationship A woman posting a thirst trap is attracting real interest from other men aka risk to relationship A guy watching porn likely isn't A guy paying for OnlyFans is definitely at least starting to I'd still argue a lot of women post cute/sexy pics to show off outfits, feel cute/sexy, etc. with zero intention of harming their relationships, but I can see how guys perceive that as a relationship risk
Liz Is Amused@lizisamused

Is a guy who doesn't want his girlfriend to post thirst traps online, but watches porn, a hypocrite? Why or why not? I again want to be clear I'm not here to piss people off, I just find dialogue without getting mad about this topic interesting 🤷🏻‍♀️

A point I'm never going to back down from is that the First Waves of civil rights, feminist, and union activism were good. Like, it is a positive thing that you can vote if you're Mexican, go to college and/or play sports there as a Black guy, NOT get married at 12 as a girl, etc. Real image of the past below. Shout to our Great Hero Fathers...and Mothers.

I’m learning that many straight women really do just want their boyfriends to lie to them constantly. They don’t want honest, vulnerable admissions of desire & predilections, they want to be deceived & manipulated because they prefer the egotistical fantasy that their man only ever thinks sexually about them as opposed to actual intimacy. It’s very childish, actually. Teenage girl mentality

I love that more and more women are calling out their boyfriends for watching that misogynistic trash 🙂‍↕️

@AntiCommieBecca @the_fem_tm 1. Call me a white knight or whatever, but women in their 30s don’t even look *that* different. 2. Women are clearly the too honest on the internet gender. I mean, come on

@the_fem_tm I honestly think a lot of that “gender wars” is coming from mostly men being too honest on the Internet. Women, particularly young women, are learning things about men that they never could’ve even imagined.🤦‍♀️ As big as I am on the truth, some things are best left unsaid! 😬

@aireland01 @DannyDrinksWine Exactly. Love Michael Haneke, but he’s literally the last person on earth who should be making this point. You can say the exact same thing about home invasions, group/family suicides, etc. all things he’s put to film.

The way women orgasm from penetrative sex used to be correctly described in anatomy textbooks in the 1800s and even in an OB/GYN textbook from 1934. But people erased this knowledge. All orgasms are clitoral orgasms. Some women can get enough clitoral stimulation (internal and external) from penetration alone to orgasm. It’s not surprising given the anatomy.

@antoniogm The same can be said of all the Hellenistic philosophies forged in chaos of the Roman Empire including the Cynics and even Christianity because (as Bertrand Russell put it) they embodied a “retreat into the soul” away from the world.

Stoicism is the philosophy of slaves (Epictetus), unjustly condemned men awaiting death (Seneca), and emperors of a dying empire (Marcus Aurelius). It became the philosophy of people who couldn’t control events, but still needed to feel sovereign over a dwindling sphere.
Roman Helmet Guy@romanhelmetguy

Stoicism is popular because apathy is the sickness of our age and stoicism glorifies it. Stoicism is cope for living in a dying society. Stoicism is managed decline. You need to become anti-stoic. You need to become so passionate it’s self-destructive.

@lololeereverie I think a lot of older guys do in fact consider younger women a fountain of youth of sorts, but these type of reactions are a lot simpler. Beautiful women have a lot of power and dominance over them and now they take a weird glee in its diminishment.

One of the reasons very immature men react this way to older women is because they’re terrified of their own mortality. They cannot face it, so any sign of the passage of time in women ignites a kind of existential panic. This is one of a handful of reasons why men have evolved as pedophiles and tend to prey on the young (and also often sabotage young men they view as competitors) — they’re energy vampires, and subconsciously figure that through proximity / sex with youthful bodies, they can refuel their virility and ward off their own inexorable doom. Tale as old as time really. Nothing motivates decrepit old perverts like those dark moments alone, sensing their own bodies deteriorating. Primal terror from the earliest dawn of man, as the void yawns and each creak and crack signals vulnerability to younger and stronger rivals in the hierarchy of ass we call human society

@scorsesepoint It's good but it has a flaw at its core. The actors are too old to play the parts. It's still enjoyable, but you can't escape the fact that 80-year old De Niro can't plausibly play a man in his 30's, like he does in the first act.
