This message hits close to home as my father just passed away as a result of several health issues...one of which was a COVID-19 infection. We all need to use the testing, antivirals and vaccines effectively to limit the impact of COVID-19

"One of the fortunate things about EG.5 is that it's closely related to XBB variants, and the XBB variants are the basis for the new COVID vaccine that will be rolled out in the fall," explains @JohnsHopkinsMMI's @AndrewPekosz. publichealth.jhu.edu/2023/what-to-k…

@FehrLab Totally agree that it is important to understand how recombinant viruses are made . I don’t think anyone has the knowledge to design a virus to behave like SARS-2. The biological properties result from natural selection

@whittakerIDlab We have been trying to isolate OC43 from patient sample with various cell types. No luck. Any suggestions?

I think its this: D.A.Tyrrell, M.L.Bynoe Cultivation of a novel type of common-cold virus in organ cultures. Br Med J, 1 (1965), pp. 1467-1470, see also sciencedirect.com/science/articl…. I think B814 "disappeared"

Can anybody point me to the paper describing OC43 for the first time? And since I am already at it....what happened to B814?
