I was speaking to someone who gained 40 kg after pregnancy. She said something that didn’t sit right with me: “This is all because I am lazy.”
It’s been 10 years and she still blames herself.
I asked her one simple question: “Why did the weight go up in the first place?”
She told me that she was overfed during pregnancy.
Laddoos, ghee, dry fruits… with no understanding of nutrition. No one told her what a balanced diet looks like. She was told not to exercise. After delivery, the same cycle continued to eat more, move less. For 40 days, she was barely allowed to step out or even walk properly.
Now think about it.
Is this laziness or a system failure? Family. Culture. Myths. Lack of guidance. Restrictions. Multiple forces pushing her in the wrong direction.
And yet, 10 years later, she says: “I am lazy.” That’s the real problem.
Obesity is not just about willpower. It’s a multi-factorial disease.
Your environment, habits, beliefs, biology, and the people around you all shape your outcome. If you keep blaming yourself for everything, you stay stuck in guilt.
And guilt kills action.
First, understand this: You were not solely responsible for how you got here. Then understand this: You are fully responsible for what you do next

- The family in the first photo invited me for lunch and treated me to an awesome bhakri / vangi/ amti menu.
- They got a ride from the Capt’s quota. We must be grateful to hands which feed us.
- As I was about to leave I saw some children who were there just to witness the helicopter flying. They were not part of the paying members but then I decided to use my Capt’s quota to give them a different experience.
- It my sincere belief that Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik ( UDAN ) is not only restricted to Fixed wing or scheduled sectors.
- We must spread the “ Joy of Flying “ into villages and towns. Getting this experience means different things for different people.
- For some it’s triggering a dream , for some it’s feeling of satisfaction, for some it’s celebration, for some it’s a way to have spiritual experience: all in all the machine is capable of spreading joy and that is the main point.
- To enable this experience, all stake holders need to think together.
- At times , I find a reservation among certain class of people and I am quite surprised to see the “ accha woh bhi helicopter mein bhaitenge wala attitude “I for one am absolutely passionate about spreading the Joy of Flying into every part of the country.
- The govt must also make all efforts to encourage operators to execute such tasks.
A wholesome two days spent in country side.

- For past two days I was operating near Sangli.
- I operated at Kundal and the occasion was “ Panchkalyan Pooja “ which is celebrated in that area.
- Tne temples there are Giri Parshvanath( second photo) Kalikund parshvanath and Zari parshvanath ( first photo )
- One thing I always do is spend sometime with children who come to see the helicopter flying.
- Villages/ towns are places where the Gen next is , we must give them adequate encouragement to dream and then achieve those dreams.

Tale of “ Ballentine Day Cake “
- Year was 1999. We were posted at Leh and we had a detachment at Chandigarh. One / Two Cpls from the unit were on duty at Chandigarh and their task was to send some admin items /look after miscellaneous needs of the unit personnel. (The Leh of those years was much different than today’s Leh.
- We had a Senior Technical Officer ( STO) Rajat Saha, a sweet gentleman and a good friend. Dada ( as we would call him ) was there with his wife and two year old son.
- On one Valentine Day , Mrs Saha had ordered a “Heart Shaped Chocolate Cake “ from Chandigarh with “ Happy Valentine Day “written on it.
- The cake travelled all the way from bakery to Chandigarh Tarmac ( in one tonne vehicle ) Chandi to Leh ( in IL-76 ) and then Leh Tarmac to their room ( in jeep )
- On Valentine Day, Dada came home after work at 1400 hrs , Maam opened the cake to surprise Dada.
- To her surprise she herself was surprised 😜
- There was a chocolate cake with a heart drawn with Red Jelly. This was still “OK “considering the diluted communication between Ma’am and detachment at Chandigarh.
- The next surprise was “ Happy Balentine Day “ written on top of it. She could not understand how the spelling had changed.
- The Sahas had a good lunch followed by chocolate cake with some of us bouncing for post lunch 🍰
- The change of words from Valentine to Balentine was intriguing us and hence Dada and me decided to do some research.
- What we realised was as follows “ the person receiving the phone call at Chandi was from that area of India where “Willis cigarettes are called Bills cigarettes “hence in his understanding
“ Valentine was Ballentine “
- Super fun and superb bonding time in that small little one room set.Nostalgia revisited today.
Happy Ballentine Day all.

@nitinwelde 3.You had devoured Alu bhujia and shev farsan and hence eating the lovingly cooked continental dinner in a makeshift kitchen of a one room apartment ) was super difficult for you .
English

@nitinwelde 2.Also you were super worried that a power cut had occurred / electric lines had been disrupted but not once you thought that it could be a romantic candle lit dinner .

- At 1440 , I decided to walk from Guptkashi helipad to our helipad at Phata. A 2.30 hour walk of almost 15 kms.
- A walk that was interesting for many reasons. I saw the road and the helipads on the route from a different perspective.
- In the second photo you can the departure helipad ( zoom in to see )
- As I reached the bottom of our hill , my team sent me the last video and asked me to wait for Innova.
- I saw the video and resaw it and saw it again and decided to wait for car.

A lot of you lose weight feel good dropping size but your process of doing so is so toxic for your mind and body that you have to finally choose between staying happy and looking fit
Has it addressed the problem? Hell no.
You now swing to the other extreme with complete YOLO approach. You will eat whatever you feel like and feel, “atleast I am happy”
Thats not happiness. Thats consolation. And you will seek validation of this consolation from the world and get triggered when someone shows you the mirror. You shoot the messenger. Because you arent really “happy” the way you claim or whatever happiness means to you
Most people can’t even imagine being happy and at peace while
Staying lean and fit till they find the right approach, educate themselves and find out that a good diet and lifestyle will not only help you get fitter, it must also support your mental health requirements

“Thoughts Behind Our Words is an independent initiative by Kiara Welde and Samiksha Shetiya. Fascinated by the art of storytelling, they sought to create their very own film, exploring the nuances of acting whilst learning about the processes of film-making.
-This short film is a slice straight from the lives of our protagonists, Diti and Hiya. It attempts to showcase the journey from the unbridled joy of childhood friendships to the complexities and nuances of teenage relationships. The change from the straightforwardness that innocence brings to the artificial streak that 'maturity' brings. It shows a snippet from the lives of the people around them, displaying how the loss of authenticity has crippled each and every person. The person who is inauthentic is just as miserable as the person who has to interact with them. There is a freeing beauty in being a genuine person. It doesn't mean being unkind but rather more compassionate as a result of that genuineness.
-Our words have impact, they are powerful tools that we are lucky to yield. Our thoughts are the power and intention behind those words, and therefore, clarity and conscience is a pre-requisite for both. As we grow and define our paths in this world, being just a little bit kinder and true to ourselves would make us better human beings, and the world a better place.”
- Proud to present storytelling of Kiara , @welde_snehal & I count on your love and encouragement.
