@AdamLuckettKSR It's going to be funny, but not funny, when the poor decision to cancel the NKU game costs them a tournament bid. I understand their reasoning, but you just can't do that when you're on the bubble, knowing it could be held against you.

This is where Kentucky baseball sits heading into the week of the regular season. The Bat Cats are flirting with the bubble + there are some other results around college baseball that could alter this resume. BUBBLE WATCH: on3.com/teams/kentucky…

@TJWalkerRadio I thought there was a near 0% chance he'd leave when he declared. He took a hometown discount in order to allow Pope more $$ to put together a title contending roster. The fact Pope failed at that, I now think there's a realistic chance that he could stay in.

I don’t think Malachi leaves, though it may be a little more tempting than some folks realize. But can you imagine how completely screwed UK would be if he did? That possibility has some people rightfully concerned. There is truly no path to even minimal success without Malachi. It’s something that has to be monitored, and nobody can really exhale until he’s officially back.

Kentucky will have to move on to another C in the 2027 class after Obinna Ekezie Jr reclasses to 2026, and commits to Louisville. Obinna wasn’t just Kentucky’s #1 C, he was their #1 overall player. Things were going well enough they hadn’t offered another C’ in 2027, (til recently) So what’s next? Kentucky has made prior contact with the 4 C’s we’ll talk about today, but it might be too late to get in seriously with a couple of them. First up: (#11) 5⭐️ Paul Osaruyi. (AZ) 6’9 220lb. Breakdown: Has the highest ceiling of any of the bigs. A+ Motor/Athlete. Elite rebounder, always in the right position. Extremely versatile defender. Defends the perimeter, the paint, the rim. Very high defensive IQ. His offense is still coming along. He’s got good hands, he makes tough catches in traffic under the rim, he catches plenty of lobs, and he’s an elite rim runner who can catch and put the ball on the floor in the open court. Solid handle when not being pressured, but he doesn’t have the best footwork right now,’ so he’s limited in the post with the ball in his hands. Has a decent enough jumper he can face up, even pop out and knock one down, slips really well off screens into a push shot. But once the tools are sharpened, once he gets with some elite coaching, like I said could be the highest ceiling of all them. Very versatile offensive potential. Reclass was talked about early, still could be a possibility as well. Something to watch as Kentucky just recently extended an offer. West Virginia, Houston, Arkansas, Kansas, BYU, thought to be the main schools right now. WVU has strong ties. #BBN #KentuckyBasketball

@TJWalkerRadio This train wreck of an off-season from Pope is made worse by the fact that everyone else around us continues to land key guys. I still have no clue what his plan was for building this roster. I'm not sure he knows either.

@BRamseyKSR Even if a star is available (reclass, etc.) or becomes available, I'm not sure how anyone could have any confidence in Pope landing them. I still can't understand how he's this bad landing guys. He's legitimately terrible at it.

We are now into the first full week of May and Kentucky’s roster for 2026-2027 still needs some work. +There is a NEED for a backup 5-man. +Adding another shooter would sure be nice. +Then, there is room for the elusive STAR…but I’m not sure there is a STAR available.

@BleedBlueCasey I think we just have a coach that's a terrible fit and hasn't met expectations. Unfortunately, we have to endure another year of him before we can move on. I look forward to a new, qualified coach to take over in 2027.

- Obinna was one of the first targets for Kentucky in the Class of 2027. - He was offered in September of 2024, just a couple months into the Mark Pope Era. - Visited Lexington in October when they played Purdue. - Visited Lexington in Feburary when they played Oklahoma. - Coaching staff conducted a in home visit right before the portal officially opened. - Kentucky was in constant talk throughout his entire recruitment before they backed off. Kentucky is still in need of a backup center and targets have dwindled. Makes you wonder if waiting on Tyran Stokes hurt their chances with other guys.

NEWS: 5⭐️ Obinna Ekezie Jr. has committed to Louisville and will reclassify to 2026 to play for the Cardinals this upcoming season, he tells @Rivals. The 7-foot center was the No. 2 overall player in the 2027 class and the No. 1-ranked center. on3.com/rivals/news/5-…

@BigBlueDylan Thanks for the update. I couldn't help but laugh at the idea of Pope finishing on Ryan. One thing I have absolutely zero confidence in is Pope closing on anything. I didn't think it was possible to be as bad as he is with closing.

No big movement on Kentucky’s Roster/Big Board moving into the month of May, but let’s talk small updates on some guys. • Boskania G/F Stefan Joksimovic’s agent has stated he intends to stay with his club and will not be in the NCAA next season, so we can remove him from the board. • Brazilian C Márcio Santos was on commitment watch after Mark Pope flew to Israel to meet with him/his agent, despite late pushes by UK/BYU, it sounds like LSU will keep him on board. • Brazilian C Wini Silva continues to hear from Kentucky also, I’ve been told. could be the pivot from Márcio Santos. • France PF Hugo Yimga still weighing his future options, an Kentucky remains a connected school, I’ve been told. He also signed as a Nike Athlete on April 22nd. • France PF Cameron Houindo is a player I originally heard could be connected to Kentucky, but I’ve been told that interest has cooled off for now. • Uruguay SF Nicolas Martinez did complete a zoom call with Kentucky this past week, his agent tells me. Kentucky remains involved for him. • Iowas State Transfer SF Milan Momcilovic remains the biggest potential addition for Kentucky. - As I mentioned in my previous update on Milan, he will be going though the entire draft process before making a decision on returning to school or not. - Kentucky has reached out to his agent and is firmly in the mix of just the “handful or less” of schools Milan will consider if he withdraws from the NBA Draft. • 2027 5⭐️ SG Ryan Hampton recently earned an offer to Kentucky after hosting Mark Pope/Staff for an in-home visit. Talks of a 26’ reclass were fluid, but have heated up tremendously recently. - Ryan is working with the staff to get a visit to Lexington in. with it being a break in-between AAU Sessions, i could possibly see that getting put together sooner than later. - LSU, SMU are 2 other schools he has visited, with Will Wade prioritizing him going back to last year at NC State. Both programs have openings at their SG spot, but both have also been recently rumored to be looking to spend big $ on a SG that isn’t a reclass FR. (Both looking INTL) - Role/Opportunity are the biggest factors, and Ive been told if Kentucky really wants him and shows it, that they’re in the best position of the 3 schools to land him in a 2026’ reclass. Just need to FINISH. #BBN #KentuckyBasketball

NEW: Kentucky’s Roster is essentially finished at this point. Without a surprise late “star” commitment, this is likely Kentucky’s starting 5, and main rotation. (Including 1 more C) Not gonna post a Portal Big Board, as Kentucky sits officially with 0 public targets at this moment. Seems like they’ll fill the last couple rotational spots with International Players. 6 International Prospects on the board: SF: Stefan Joksimovic. SF: Nicolas Martinez. PF: Hugo Yimga. PF: Cameron Houindo. C: Wini Silva. C: Márcio Santos. (Commitment Watch?) Who do we need the most BBN? #BBN #KentuckyBasketball

Congressman Andy Barr is running for US Senate in Kentucky. On our Liberty Index scorecards, Barr’s Liberty Score is about as bad as it gets. His lifetime average: 48. Barr’s record is clear: He is not principled and is not a friend of Liberty. Kentucky deserves better.
