The steering boxes they used were called recirculating steering boxes. Basically a worm gear on the end of the steering rod that turned a pitman arm. The steering pumps that ran these boxes weren’t very good, which is why they ran these wide ratio boxes…to get the leverage to turn the wheels. It was a job hustlin these cars around. The pumps improved throughout the years and they began to run boxes that were closer and closer. But there was still a physicality required. This physical component was deemed by Steve Phelps to be a barrier of entry for lgbtq and women in racing, which is exactly why Steve Phelps removed this steering system from the nextgen. And now we’re are left with gt3 steering and quick twitch euro style driving. Hustling a car up on the tire doesn’t even exist anymore.

Nobody is being fooled here. These lousy ad campaigns are consistently met with negativity bc the general public is more informed than ever, as a result of being duped over the years.
