NEW: The DOJ announces charges against 12 additional defendants in alleged fraud schemes targeting taxpayer-funded programs across the Southeast, involving more than $90 million in intended losses. Among the cases is an alleged $20 million food stamp fraud scheme tied to a Miami convenience store. Prosecutors say the defendants convinced SNAP recipients to exchange their benefits for cash at a discount. Federal officials say three of the four defendants have been arrested, including one taken into custody after arriving in the United States from Jordan.

The recent Southeast fraud cases involve OVER $350 MILLION in intended losses and include cases involving: 🔴 SNAP benefits 🔴 Small Business Administration loans 🔴 Housing benefits 🔴 Tax fraud From July 4th alone, federal prosecutors charged cases reaching over $90 million loss and implicating 12 named defendants.

🚨 Accountability is coming. CMS is issuing Notices of Intent to Terminate to the top 100 agents and brokers whose Marketplace enrollment activity shows violations of Exchange standards of conduct, including repeatedly submitting applications without applicant identification information, such as Social Security Numbers, at an implausible rate. These agents will have 30 days to respond. When bad actors manipulate the system, they steal from taxpayers and undermine trust in the Marketplace. We're taking action to protect consumers, strengthen program integrity, and hold bad actors accountable.
