@KaneofPiedmont Excellent analogy. I'm sure I sometimes overestimate how bad it was overall; likely because I grew up in northeastern USA and worked/attended school in one of America's most dangerous cities. All local businesses had already been overtaken by Indians, also. I'd a font row seat.

@warrencbennett Believe me, I could go on at length as to how hard we had it. However, I'll simply stay on track and say I was 6 or 7 when The Warriors was released and not quite old enough to drink when Falling Down was. So, yeah, youth have no monopoly on misery.

The single biggest issue in my life and the life of my loved ones is the inability to properly punish criminals in the city. Everyone I am close to has moved from a high crime city where activists DAs have pushed restorative justice programs. The crime was simply intolerable and is highly specific to a few metro areas where these DAs have power. They use culture war race grievances to ignore the problem. Itโs not some fox talking point or some MAGA racism, itโs a massive policy difference between the two parties.

@whiskeyandashes Always knew you were a real one. I played D&D in my 30s after always wanting to but never having a group. Then I went to law school. Now I support my wife staying at home with our newborn twin daughters. Not complaining! Just wonder if I'll ever roll a d20 in earnest again.
