Proud of @EmmanuelMacron and France in China for proving to the world that its spirit of Liberty, Equality, Brotherhood is not just for the west, but shared with the world regardless. Sharp contrast to US's values, that only puts itself first and foremost & often at gunpoint.

China is undergoing digital transformation in all aspects. This is an ordinary community parcel self-retrieval depot. Premise: no robbery and theft. So this can’t run in the West.

@RnaudBertrand Also it's mostly written/coached/trained/memorized/reproduced/etc by the mother and the teacher . It's not a bad thing at all. The Chinese language is learned through rote memorization . We only discover the meaning later.

@RnaudBertrand I call it the chinese tiger mother effect. Most of us grow up trilingual when we have a chinese mother in a foreign country. It will be English + Chinese + that third language. French will be tertiary to your kids.

My 9yo daughter surprised my wife with a beautifully crafted letter in Chinese for mother's day. I have to say, we were both surprised, and impressed. Her main schooling is in French and English, and she only learns Chinese characters on the side with a tutor. We both couldn't believe she was this advanced already. We always had the objective of raising her (and her sister) trilingual, in spoken and written language, which is much more difficult than most people realize, especially when both French AND Chinese are involved since they're probably the most difficult written languages to learn. Whatever we're doing, it's obviously working!

@HaraldinChina @zhao_dashuai That just means 2d anime. It's a subculture for teens. You don't get chinese people running around cosplaying as anime or game characters much less an entire stadium full of middle aged men dancing to teen girls. Trust me bro. I'm a middle aged chinese man. We prefer AV.

@JJS36038159 @chamath That's because China has a high functioning state administration that supports it's highly competitive capitalist industries. Meanwhile the US has a malfunctioning state with an overheated capitalist system. China refined the socialist state from Russia and capitalism from US

Yes. To be precise: State-backed low-end market disruption. Huawei operates in an asymmetric arena where bankruptcy rules don't apply. Huawei can bleed for years without blinking. State-directed financing keeps the lifeline open at non-market rates. A guaranteed domestic market gives them a revenue floor others can’t touch. In this rigged setup, competitors scramble to higher ground — brand, regulation, novelty — anywhere price can't reach. You don't beat an asymmetric player by playing their game. You beat them by isolating them from the game. It requires the coordination of a majority of players who agree they are being exploited, not competing. When the network turns cold, no amount of state power is enough.

Worth noting that Huawei, a Chinese National Champion, has systematically executed a “low-end disruptor” strategy with a lot of success. “Low-end Disruptor” simply means making an equivalent or better product for less than incumbents. End bossed: 1. Ericsson 2. Nokia 3. Cisco Making inroads against: 1. Qualcomm New target: 1. Nvidia

Goodbye, Nvidia. Ni hao, Huawei. Huawei has started shipping its latest AI chip (GPU) -- Ascend 910C -- to customers in China. "It achieves performance comparable to Nvidia's H100 chip by combining two 910B processors into a single package through advanced integration techniques."

China is more “sexist” than the West in the sense that they openly acknowledge that women are simply worse than men at certain things, like chess or table tennis. However, China is also less “sexist” than the West in the sense that they require men to practice with women so that female athletes can face real competition and improve. The West is “sexist” in a strange way: they pretend that men and women are absolutely the same, yet they actually never allow them to seriously compete against each other.

Yup good point. I think free trade’s awesome, but it’s gotta be fair too. China imports way less from us, 0.5% of our GDP, while we’re at 2.5% for them. That feels lopsided. I’d love to see American businesses get easier access to their market, you know? Balance matters. Let’s keep the good parts of trade, innovation, jobs, stability without anyone getting the short end.

Boeing is now cancelled in China. The great decoupling begins. Or so it seems. The reality is that Boeing’s planes that are manufactured in America, for Americans, include about 10,000 Chinese made parts. In each plane. In China, they use American made avionics and engines in their planes. Pretty important parts. The trade war shows a stunning misunderstanding of how global supply chains work. While it’s theoretically possible to decouple, trade is also a major driver of peace. I prefer incentives for peace. Just sayin’.

@Kanthan2030 Interesting. From here in ASEAN, we can act as conduits to sell to westerners who need to pay $20k a handbag, by collating orders & designs via AI & Whatsapp, then send them to be made in China, avoid tariffs and reship them say via Singapore. Investors? I have AI & china conx.

Coach bag for $25? Trump might have destroyed many American consumer brands. Here’s why: For years, Western brands for apparel, handbags, shoes etc. were made in China. What people don’t realize is that a same factory could be making products for multiple brands like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren or Nike and Adidas. Now, due to trade war, these OEM factories are starting to sell the products directly to the customer! For example, you can now get a Gucci bag… without the Gucci logo… for 80% or 90% off!! A lot of people from around the world are going to jump on this opportunity. And the value of many luxury brands are going to plummet.
