LDS - Here’s a short summary of Hebrews chapters 7-10.. Please read. Sorry it’s a little long. Melchizedek means king of righteousness, He’s the King of peace. - Jesus has those titles. Not you or me. Hebrews 7:11 tells us if perfection was attainable through Levitical priesthood, then there would be no need for a different priesthood(Melchizedek) 12-tells us when there is a cha he in the priesthood, there’s a change in the law. 13,14- tells us Jesus is from tribe of Judah, that was the law. 15- tell us another priest arises 16- 👉became a priest based on the power of an indestructible life 23 - tells us there were many priests because they kept dying. 24- 👉But since Jesus holds his priesthood permanently, He continues forever. 25- always living to intercede for us 26 - 👉“For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.” Ch 8 7,13 - we are under a new covenant because the first covenant had faults. The first covenant is obsolete. Ch 9 3,7 - the High priest of the old covenant used to go into the Holy of Holies once a year on the day of atonement to sprinkle blood on the altar to make atonement for sins, his and the people. 11,12-“But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.” (This is telling us that Christ is now our High Priest) 15-17 - Tells us a death occurred(Christ) so now the new covenant is in effect. 24- Christ entered into Heaven on our behalf. Ch 10 10- we have been sanctified once for all through our high priest. 11- every priest stands daily at service offering the same thing that can never take away sins 12- But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God. 18 - “Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.” 19,20- we now have confidence to enter the Holy of Holies through Christ. 21- Jesus is our High Priest over the House of God. 22- out bodies have been washed with water.(this can be spiritual baptism/water and spirit) That is what the book of Hebrews teaches. That Jesus became a High Priest based on the power of an indestructible life, He’s our perfect priest because He is holy, sinless, exalted above the heavens.. Doesn’t die so He’s always ready to intercede for us. That is amazing.. So why do you think you qualify? Also why do you think we need to, when it says Jesus is always ready to intercede for us? The job of the High Priest under the old covenant was to go in once a year and sprinkle blood on the ark to forgive sins..(which they never did because it was animal blood).. But Jesus’ offering was Himself.. He entered the Holy Holies in Heaven, as our High Priest and sprinkled His own blood, which is eternal and sinless. That is why we are redeemed. He did that once. For all time. So if the job of the priest has been fulfilled.. Then why do you think we need another high priest in the order of Melchizedek? Does it really sound like you or anyone you know qualify?
