This broke my heart and I can't stop thinking about it. Iran has all odds stacked against them its crazy. First of all, they are literally being forced to sleep in Tijuana, Mexico every single night after they play. And its not like their games are right over the boarder in San Diego… they are in Seattle… across the US. AND they have to cross the border and go through immigration JUST to come back and compete the next game. And GO BACK and sleep there after a full on game. Their captain said it himself: "This is a disastrous World Cup. They have done everything possible to eliminate us. That's what they want, they want us out." And after last night their defender is on camera breaking down: "I don't know why we have such bad luck. I don't know what our people have done to deserve this. We just wanted to make them happy." These guys are fighting for an entire country while the system fights back. And then you watch Messi on the same stage committing fouls that would 100% be a yellow or red for ANYONE else and they don't give him a thing. Not even a warning. One team can't even sleep in the host country. They remove their goals yet the other is untouchable. Being the underdog doesn't just mean fighting the opponent. It means fighting the referees, FIFA, and the whole system at the same time. Honestly, it makes it that much obvious that the World Cup is rigged

Their goal was offsides, though. The missed foul call on Messi has been missed on a thousand other players. Unfortunately, being from a nation that is currently at war with the host nation means HS is going to place restrictions on their visas. The fact they have been allowed to compete at all is a good thing. They nearly won the game, but the goal was clearly offsides. Sport teams shouldn’t be banned because of where they are from, like the Olympics disallowing people from representing their country.

@DonHarris4 Don, plenty a replays have been called all year from all teams with the twirl of the finger. Not the reason spurs lost but everyone saw the same thing.

I could be wrong, so don't shoot. But for those all upset that the Spurs didn't get the challenge on the ball that went off of Chet's foot, I think in order to get a challenge, a coach must first A. Have a timeout left. B. Call the timeout, then C. twirl your finger an ask for a challenge. I'm not sure Mitch ever called timeout.

Watching the refs miss the out of bounds call off Chet, then Mitch Johnson wave relentlessly in the refs face for a challenge and not give it to him, to then immediately see Shai fall down and get his 20th FTA … That is the first time in my 15 years of watching the NBA I have legit turned off a big game of this caliber out of unenjoyment. When Victor Wembanyama plays in the paint the Spurs win. When he plays disinterested, they lose. The plus-minus numbers from this game tell the entire story. The Oklahoma City Thunder starters were actually pretty vulnerable: Chet Holmgren (-2) Jalen Williams (-1) Luguentz Dort (-6) But the SECOND units entered, the game completely flipped. Alex Caruso exploded for a +18 in just 12 minutes while scoring 14 points, and Cason Wallace somehow posted an absurd +23 in only 15 minutes. Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs starters honestly held up relatively well. De’Aaron Fox was only -3. Victor Wembanyama was -4. The real issue was the non-Wemby stretches where OKC’s bench pressure, transition pace, and defensive intensity completely overwhelmed San Antonio’s second unit. Sound familiar?

For everyone who loved seeing the nuns cheering and praying for the Spurs, this is a pretty awesome thing I want to share. They do a ton of work helping local youth and apparently have an Amazon wishlist filled with very basic everyday needs. Yesterday I paid $750 to get my dog to throw up. I walked into that ER vet clinic armed with Claude and they didn’t know what to do with me. “My dog ingested 704mg of theobromine in brownie form. He needs a shot of apomorphine and then some activated charcoal. I gave him 4 tbs of hydrogen peroxide but it didn’t work.” They looked at me like I was crazy. Doesn’t everyone convert the % dark + ounces of chocolate to theobromine and divide by the kg weight of their dog? I was promptly shown a $750 invoice, paid it via Apple Pay, and they gave him the shot and he threw up brownies. The chocolate chips were still whole. He never showed symptoms before or since. Then they checked his heart rate and said “it’s 170. We need to keep him here overnight for observation. That’s very high. Here’s another invoice for $2,200.” I said “well he’s a puppy surrounded by other dogs and he’s been freaking out this entire time. Can we take him to a private room to let him chill for a few minutes and measure his heart rate then?” Sure. It was to 130 within 5 minutes. Eve thing was cordial. They gave him 100ml of charcoal + 400ml subq and released us. Do we need vets? YES! Should we use Claude? ALSO YES! Was this clinic owned by private equity and has liability and financial incentives in mind? Yes. Was the vet an amazing human with my dog’s best interest in mind? Also yes. I wanted a person that had seen thousands of dogs and an AI tool that had seen millions. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. But don’t be afraid to push back and go with your gut. Never forget that incentives run everything. Today I’m grateful for the unstoppable duo of humans + technology.
