There’s a fire that rages in me when people, especially politicians, use Jesus as a mascot for their ideology. Jesus Christ would love “gay kids,” without question, just as we are called to do. But He would love them into righteousness, He would not cheer them into hell like people like this do. When Jesus told the Pharisees to “cast the first stone” at the woman who committed adultery, he didn’t tell the woman “you are fine the way you are.” He said, “go and sin no more.” Jesus didn’t die the most excruciating death imaginable so we can stay trapped in perpetual sin. He died so that we may have NEW LIFE through Him. We are called to become new creations, not to use his grace as a get out of jail free card. Jesus is LORD, not your mascot.

Something Jocko said on a podcast I was listening to c. winter 2020-2021 changed my life—he was recounting how someone once asked him “what he says to himself” to get himself to do all the crazy disciplined stuff he does (up before 4am working out every morning, etc) and he was like that is the EXACT wrong question, you need to get out of the mind and into the body, you need to learn how to move the body by just going around the mind, let it scream and protest while you drag yourself out of bed, you cannot be held hostage by having to get the mind on board before you do anything

I find this conversation foreign - along with the argument that we are "data center constrained" or "energy constrained." Historically, in markets - price is the leveler of supply and demand. If you have a constraint, you price higher - you don't have "surplus demand." But in this market, VC$$$ act as subsidies (as they did in consumer internet). Everyone believes if they have high growth they get unlimited VC$$$. The biggest fear becomes losing market share. So "growth at all costs" becomes the game on the field. With that reality, you are always going to have some constraint, because you are "knowingly" choosing pricing that is out of whack with balancing supply/demand. It will continue until the major players feel they are forced to reconcile unit economics and profitability (as eventually happened in ride sharing when Lyft went public). Until then, you by definition have constraints. We can’t disentangle true demand from subsidized demand yet. Some of the incremental demand is being engineered by the excessive VC$$$ forced into the system, and the competitive dynamic between two companies that are losing massive amounts of money. No one can argue they aren't losing tons of money. Amazon and Uber maxed out around $2B a year. These companies could lose $10B on more in 2026.

This whole Mike Vrabel adultery saga reminds me a lot of King David in the Bible. David ran from accountability after committing adultery & went to great lengths to try to hide his sin. Coach, stop running. Stop deflecting. Repent & submit to Jesus Christ like David in Psalm 51. There will be consequences, but God’s grace to bigger.

For the folks suggesting that “Canal Street has always been like this” (many of whom are visibly out of staters) it might help you to learn a few things. First, I’ve personally lived in this precise corridor for YEARS and I have single handedly not only watched this zone grow steadily out of control, but have been filming its devolution piecemeal for the better part of nine months after I hit a point of intolerance. Second, the amount of residents and business owners in this 2 mile stretch who DM me on a daily basis confirming precisely this, folks who have lived here for DECADES, validate the same. Ask them. They will tell you that historically, there had been a group of mostly friendly Asian women with pamphlets selling knock off goods. But given their politeness and minimal intrusion, the police usually left them alone because they weren’t really bothering anyone. However, after and through our "migrant crisis'" (to call it a crisis is misleading; sanctuary city status is a choice. True crises are not), these folks have changed in tone and character, quality and quantity. Now, block after block is covered in trash, graffiti, squalor, and blight, and even a 3 minute stroll through the melee (if you can even manage to make it, given their wares, carts, blankets and debris covering entire sidewalks for blocks), is met with cat called women and drug offers, to say nothing of the naked hostility and open violence if you dare to bring a camera to film public streets. Third, if the stakeholders who actually live here (as opposed to the randoms online who reach back into a memory bank of visiting The Big Apple when they were a child!) was not enough for you, it may also help to know this exponential devolution was well documented by the Adams Administration during his entire tenure. He essentially got down on hands and knees in presentations pleading for help as he quoted a figure of 10,000 migrants arriving per month, before turning around and notching 12 billion in tax payer aid to them over a course of 5 years. Fourth, to the extent the peanut gallerists respond with “well how is that Zohran’s fault?!” - Zohran is the biggest proponent of sanctuary city EXPANSION in American history. If someone with common sense had been elected, they would have inherited a problem, absolutely. But that person could have begun to fix it, not balloon it. Fifth, and finally, arguing that problem X has "existed for decades", (even if that were true, which it is, of course, not) does little by way of convincing me, or anyone with brain cells, that problem X should not be immediately resolved. We do not have to live like this.
