@ryangerritsen Plenty of Sikhs are already hired. Just laying the groundwork for when he fails the test and can claim racism again.

Well the continued erosion of our standards and policies continues. The person who complained to the media about not being allowed to wear his Kirpan during his recruitment exam is now allowed to wear it and they are also changing their policies regarding it. Canada is such a weak nation.

@TGCTS @WudntYaLikeTNo I remember overhearing a conversation between clerks. Worst store outside WPG, was Hamilton. Losses of under $100/day. WPG stores would lose several hundred to thousands a day.

@guyfelicella The key here is properly staffed. 24 hour wrap around supports. If they nail it here, they move on to the next step into transitional housing and eventually fully reintegrated as contributing members of society. I’d bet done properly, it would save $ long term.

@guyfelicella I usually don’t agree with you much. But you’re bang on with this one. We were signed up with a program called “Loop” all that perfectly good, near expiry, at expiry date food would go into our horse trailer and be used to feed our farm animals. Our dogs ate better than we did.

Grocery stores asking struggling customers to “donate to fight hunger” at the checkout while they throw out perfectly good food behind closed doors is one of the biggest hypocrisies in our society. If food is still safe to eat and within days of expiring, it should be going to food banks, shelters, and people in need, not dumpsters. We don’t have a food shortage, we have a system that would rather waste food than feed people.

@therealmrbench She also wanted the term “Barn Burner” labeled as hate speech. Clearly mistaking it for Wagon Burner. This woman is an idiot.

On November 7, 2025, NDP MP Leah Gazan defended her push to criminalize so-called residential school “denialism.” Her original Bill C-413 did not pass. Then she came back with Bill C-254. That bill would amend the Criminal Code for statements about residential schools that politicians decide are “condoning,” “denying,” “downplaying,” “justifying,” or “misrepresenting facts.” Ask questions, you get attacked. Demand evidence, and they want the Criminal Code dragged into it. Canada was told 215 bodies were found at Kamloops. Years later, we are told about anomalies. But instead of proving the claim with evidence, the political class wants to punish people for questioning the narrative. Residential schools were real. Abuse was real. But asking for proof of a specific public claim is not hate. It is the bare minimum in a country that still pretends facts matter.

Hello from Canada 🇨🇦 👋 I have a question for Americans 🇺🇸🙋 I've never seen a real gun in my life. Only in anime and movies. Is it true that Americans sometimes see guns at stores like Walmart? In Canada, we only see them on TV. Is that normal in America? 🤔

Canadians deserve to be safe in their communities. That’s why we’re hiring 1,000 new RCMP personnel — and giving law enforcement the tools and support they need to keep our streets safe.

@guyfelicella If homeless people could act even halfway civilized, they could live without any harassment of any kind.

If a homeless person is using the library because they have nowhere else to go, and they aren’t bothering anyone, they should be allowed to use that public service like everyone else. Libraries are one of the last public spaces where people can exist without being expected to buy something. Access to warmth, safety, washrooms, internet, knowledge, and human connection shouldn’t depend on whether you have an address. Being homeless is not a crime. Existing in public while poor should not be treated like one either. Full Stop 🛑

Hey @RedRiverCoopLtd why is there currently a 15 cent/per litre difference in gas prices between two of your stations 3 km apart? $1.69.9 at Main and Jefferson vs $1.84.9 at Main and Riverbend. Luckily I checked.

@willymacmoran @TGCTS @cityofwinnipeg Hay asswipe, an encampment breaks a city bylaw, it breaks environmental legislation and the damage it causes to the surrounding area is mischief. The drugs consumed are illegal. You must be before the courts right? What are you charged with this time?

From a FB group for North Kildonan about 15 minutes ago: “Can nothing be done about the homeless camp on the north side of Peguis bridge they are harassing the walkers on the trail this morning.” @cityofwinnipeg should explain what “priority level” this site was assigned and why

@LeafandThistle Sneaking up on drug dealers who don’t see you coming is a blast. Sadly, not a lot of bike cops care to do actual police work.
