BREAKING: GE Vernova will pay the town of Nantucket and island businesses $10.5 million as part of a settlement related to the offshore wind turbine blade failure in July 2024 at the Vineyard Wind farm.

⚡️The same Vineyard Wind turbine that suffered a blade failure last July was struck by lightning on February 27, caught fire, and detached, per the U.S. Coast Guard. A fishing vessel in the area reported no sign of debris, but Vineyard Wind is launching a helicopter to assess.

WIND TURBINE NOISE POLLUTION Indian River High school students nailed it. They hadn't seen these numbers. The offshore turbines are predicted by independent analysis to be plainly audible and highly annoying evening and night at hundreds of homes. Figures: dBA (as read by sound meter, and Lpa,LF - low frequency sound level from 10-160 Hz Danish industrial intrusive noise regulation). Keep in mind- these are average values. The wind industry has documented peaks ranging 6 to 11 dB OVER average. The noise is all low-frequencies, whump, thump, boots in a dryer.
