@henningsanden The thing I'm most interested about (and let's say from a technical standpoint this running in RT is somewhat impressive) is if this filter actually keeps consistent between shots. I get it keeps the same face in a single shot but what if a character is off-screen for a while?

When art directing you need to design everything towards a quality bar. We accept that games don’t look real because the anim, textures, lighting all hit about the same bar. This looks incredibly off because the texture and asset bar is way above the animation and general movement. Photo realism with game level anim will always look incredibly off.

@STreffi @toncijukic @DrFuturo_ @SebAaltonen Conversely, it might be possible to go the gaussian splat route on a video generated by Genie and remesh it into a 3d model. Nothing more than a toy still, but it might be a fun excercise.

@toncijukic @DrFuturo_ @SebAaltonen I've been following AI development closely since the beginning. Mostly I use it for asset generation and coding. Both have become significantly faster. Through AI I've been able to optimize and simplify a lot of processes within my company. Mostly coded myself.

I have seen a lot of walking simulators made with Genie 3 recently. Zero games with actual game logic. Super boring, just like the "Unlimited Detail" tech demo. Lots of fakes too. People engagement baiting and telling how game devs are doomed. Too bad all of these lies actually affect game dev investors. Less money to make good games in the future.

@Da_Real_Hugo @cixliv @arian_ghashghai @boztank I'm actually more excited for the Frame as an enterprise device - android is extremely hard to get through IT security in companies and being tied to Meta was just another hurdle. An open, Linux-based device is perfect for both mobile and PC based "serious" applications.

The Quest platform will die. But before it dies people need to know whom to blame. It’s time to put the execs on blast: Let’s start with @boztank a man who entered the VR space like a retarded elephant falling into a boutique coffee shop. Falling over and over onto various cups and plates shouting “the data says” as he clumsily breaks everything while Zuck pats him on the head for being his only friend. Let’s thank @c_pruett whom treated 3rd party devs like an SS agent for doing anything that Meta *might* do in 10 years. Chris while being the head of content, secretly ran his own game studio promoting his games. A man who has a profile picture of a someone drowning because interacting with him is the feeling of dread before you off yourself. Let’s thank AJ Glasser for acting like the witch in Snow White for creating a VR dev blacklist for anyone who questioned Meta’s decisions. Treating the dev store as her own personal toxic clique. Let’s thank Alex Schultz for his smooth brain renaming of Oculus to various forms of corporate slop like “Meta Horizon Worlds Quest”. Last but not least let’s thank the highly unethical “journalists” like @Heaney555 who would act as a propaganda mouthpiece of Boz and Meta. Regurgitating Meta talking points like dictator state media. Attacking any developers whom spoke ill of his God. Thanks guys, I hope those whom pick up the pieces of VR aren’t as lame as you were.

@AntonHand I get the same with Genshin Impact. No matter what you think of the game their shadows are something else (they even have colored borders 😱 ) And to make it worse I'm pretty sure that's on built-in or URP

@AntonHand Those bricks/rocks look NICE... one thing you have to give to the USA - you have some nice diorama-building supplies ;) I've been trying to find decent looking foam (at a reasonable price) for ever

@AntonHand I'm baffled why games like Jungle/Desert/Urban strike or Cannon fodder don't get modern clones using contemporary tech (destruction, physics, VFX). That would be a blast to play and is realistic to pull of even with a small team... (Plus a rouglike jungle strike would rock!)

@AntonHand ... to the bottom in literature, music, cinema and gaming where the form and sophistication is sacrificed in the name of quick consumption and easy dopamine hits. And yes, I know I sound old ;)

@AntonHand No, I absolutely agree that games can be many different things and still be subjectively astonishing to different people - for every fan of The last of us there is a fan of Goat Simulator and both those views are completely valid. I'm just a bit bothered by the constant race...

@AntonHand Honestly I'd take an almost 1 to 1 remake at this point (although I'd love to see a bit more dynamic world and economy). Same goes for Cover Action (another forgotten Sid Meier's gem)

@AntonHand I'd add a few more to the list. But they have to eighter have a great story (Disco Elysium, BG3) or high replayability (Hades, Hitman). Unfortunately VR still has no games that really fit the bill (a lot of fun "toys" but nothing that really has staying power).

@AntonHand Out of curiosity - which existing games would you pay 40$-60$ for?

@delaneykingrox I kind of get not using Loads for buildings in a top-down game. But foliage, traffic and pedestrians? That is just stupid - these things can vary wildly in size depending on the zoom level. I can't believe this made it through production.

@delaneykingrox When 3d graphics is taught in an art school you tend to get a lot of classical art subjects like sculpture, live drawing etc that you would never find the drive to do in real life. This can be really beneficial even if a lot of students don't realize it until much later.

@delaneykingrox I know you've made a thread about things you find lackin in Blender a while ago but could you elaborate a bit on what makes it's UV toolset so bad? I've worked in Max and Maya years ago and I certainly prefer Blender (but I haven't used the UV toolkit for example)
