So I’m probably going to get roasted by literally everyone but back in my day, a male cheerleader, very similar to a male ballerina 🩰, was used primarily to lift, swing, catch, etc. Were they gay? Probably. Did they exude it? No. It’s definitely an artistic choice to have the male cheerleader bouncing around with Pom poms, especially since male ballerinas and male cheerleaders always took a “supportive” role. These two sports are always seen as female coded with a male in the supporting role not front and center. To pretend it’s the same as what it was before is inaccurate. Not saying it’s right or wrong it’s just definitely an artistic choice.
