There is something called basic structure of constitution recognised much later in 1973 . The basic structure doctrine enshrines “secularism” as a basic structure Gandhi was killed because was a Ram Bhakt who had a an all encompassing view of nation, constitution and its tenets. The idea of Constuent Assembly came from the Cabinet Mission Plan of 1946. Elections to the Assembly were held in July–August 1946 (through provincial legislative assemblies, not direct public vote). The first meeting of the Constituent Assembly was held on 9 December 1946 in New Delhi. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was later elected as its permanent President (11 December 1946). The Assembly continued working until 26 November 1949, when it adopted the Constitution of India (which came into force on 26 January 1950). Thus discussions in CA lead to a constitution which were direct reason for killing of Gandhi. But an average Godse Bhakt cannot be expected to read or understand all this.
