What Virginians need right now is more money in their pockets. They need a living wage. They need their tax burden lifted. I’m proud to support two pieces of legislation to achieve this – raising our minimum wage to a living wage and expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit.

NEW: Teacher Joan Naydich, who was beaten unconscious by a 270lb teen after she took his Nintendo, is doubling down & refusing to help the teen get a lighter sentence. Good 🔥 During an interview with the @nypost, Naydich blasted the school district for failing her. She also gave more details of the incident, explaining how the teen, Brendon Depa spit in her face and called her a 'wh*re' before the violent attack. Depa is allegedly a special needs student but Naydich says she didn't notice "anything wrong with him" describing him as a "normal" but defiant kid. Naydich says she was knocked out for an extended period of time and regained consciousness at the hospital. She suffered five broken ribs and a concussion but is receiving no help from the school district. "It’s on video. They all know what happened to me. This is something of a magnitude, the viciousness, that has never happened in this county. I expected more from my employer, from my county, than to be treated like some person who faked a fall." Depa is facing 30 years.

Make no mistake: extreme Republicans have no plan to lower costs for families—none. Their only plan is to hand out massive giveaways to the super-wealthy and big corporations. They’ve locked arms with Big Pharma and Big Oil to try to stop us from lowering prescription drug costs and utility bills. They haven’t given up their fight to cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. I will not let them.

With funding from the Inflation Reduction Act, the IRS is going after wealthy tax cheats, improving customer service for taxpayers, and helping taxpayers get the refunds they deserve. Republicans want to slash IRS funding. I will fight tooth and nail to stop them.
