The Kofi Annan Courage in Cartooning Award 2026 is a humbling recognition! It was also such a big honour for the Geneva event to be graced by Nobel Laureate in Economics, Prof. Joseph Stiglitz. I do not take it for granted. Thank you

Knowing our country, this will inevitably be scrutinized from tribal lenses; the mafia fighting a Mwesigwa to put a Rwakakooko. This warning from Mr Andrew Mwenda just cements the conspiracies.

UEDCL APPOINTS ACTING MANAGING DIRECTOR Eng. Joselynne Rwakakooko has been appointed the acting managing director of UEDCL, replacing Paul Mwesigwa. Prior to the appointment, Eng. Rwakakooko has been serving as the UEDCL chief commercial and operations officer. #VisionUpdates

How did we lose all values of education that you guys had in the days sincerely? By reading this article alone, I can instantly confirm that the education you guys enjoyed was full of value and shaped better leaders. Chairman @norbertmao , by the time you and the late Mayombo (my distant uncle) were battling at @Makerere , I was just a little kid in mid primary classes but I remember we also used to have debates and at end of the year speech days and these indeed used to shape the children, I just wonder what went wrong anyway. 😞 Thank you for this good story though. 🤛

Thank you @DailyMonitor for publishing Tegule’s reminiscences. Noble used to joke that he personified the NRM because those letters were also his initials - Noble Rwaboni Mayombo🤣 We lived in the same Hall - Mitchell and sat in the same class for three years. He was one of the five soldiers of the NRA who had returned from the bush to resume studies. Their five were inseparable. Their pentagon had Mayombo, Mugira, Turyatunga, Karemire and Bainomugisha. The opposite pentagon had Oulanyah, Kajubi-Ssepuuya, Othembi, Olok-Asobasi and I. When I first visited Mayombo’s room I found he had an oversized 6 inch mattress on a tiny bed. Apart from the usual legal tomes, his bookshelf was full of Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Kim Il Sung, and other communist thinkers. I recall that Cuban revolutionary icons Fidel Castro and Che Guevara were his true role models. He could recite entire passages from Castro’s courtroom apologia - History Shall Absolve Me. After the Guild race he refused to accept that his was a real loss. He claimed that it was due to a gap in the consciousness of the students who were confused about who can best serve their interests. He saw himself as a Daniel Ortega whose Sandinista Party overthrew the Samoza regime in Nicaragua but lost elections in 1990. I think Noble wanted to blunt the sting of the electoral loss. I told him that the students were actually aware of their interests that is why they voted for a candidate who was resisting the IMF/World Bank inspired structural adjustment policies that the NRM government had embraced lock, stock and barrel. This policy package forced developing countries like Uganda to carry out radical privatization programs and cut social spending. It was indeed a medicine whose side effects were worse than the disease it intended to cure! Our disagreements never degenerated into personal conflicts. No wonder a few months after the elections, during the Annual Africa Week, we held a Mock OAU Summit (now AU), and Noble agreed to play the role of Libyan President Gadaffi! He gave a sterling performance. Another Guild contestant, Amon Muzoora played the role of the host President Museveni with Grace Rubaale as First Lady Janet Museveni. Such fora gave the students the opportunity to delve into policy debates and gain insight into the problems afflicting society.

Norbert Mao vs Noble Mayombo: The presidential race fate denied Ugandans, writes @gawayategulle "In 1994, Mao and Mayombo, both lawyers, ran for seats in the Constituent Assembly. Mao lost to an old warhorse, Andrew Adimola, in Gulu Municipality. Mayombo, a favourite of the President, easily made it to the CA as an Army Delegate. But the two rivals met again in the 6th Parliament (1996-2001), Mayombo as a UPDF MP, and Mao as Gulu Municipality MP." 👉bit.ly/4t86QUz #MonitorUpdates

When someone with the title ‘Professor' churns out such disposable trashy, fawning unoriginal regurgitation it is no surprise youth are questioning the value of education. Ojienda has reverted to a mere band leaping from one unsubstantiated assertion without evidential support. What kind of a “broad-based approach to governance “is he talking about? Taxing people to the bone? Failing the education system? Mismanaging funds? That is what transforms what he says into mere and pathetic worn-out clichés from an authoritative figure who is is expected to set a certain threshold of discussions. x.com/citizentvkenya…

@aumahope2 Now this is what in Sociology is called a norm-law mismatch. There are many citizens above 30 who are unmarried and yet the country is adding more of them.

The man who threw a water bottle at during a public event did not just disappear after the incident. Security officers moved quickly and arrested him on the spot. According to reports, he was taken in for questioning as authorities tried to understand his motive. Throwing objects at a sitting president is taken very seriously because it is seen as a security threat, even if no harm is caused. What made the moment even more shocking is how fast it happened. One second it was a normal rally, the next second the bottle was flying through the air. The president reacted instantly, shielding himself, while security rushed to control the situation. For many people watching, the incident raised concerns about safety at public gatherings. It also sparked debate online, with some asking what pushed the man to do it, while others focused on how security handled it. In the end, the man is likely to face charges related to public disorder and threatening a national leader. His actions turned a normal political event into a moment that many Kenyans will not forget anytime soon.
