FULL VIDEO : Police activity near Gallery Place involved two separate incidents occurring around the same time. Assistance was requested after a large group of youth gathered in the area. Separately, MPD was also responding to reports of a shot fired near the intersections of 9th and G Streets NW, which generated multiple 911 calls and a heavy police presence downtown. One individual was detained during the response related to the shot fired. The incident comes just shortly after the D.C. Council approved permanent youth curfew legislation aimed at addressing large gatherings and “teen takeovers” in areas like U Street and Navy Yard.
