What are the top fantasy books/series you think every well-read fantasy fan should know? (we'll assume Tolkien and Lewis, so besides that)

@Tiff_Germain I do ARC reads. I started a bookstagram account and signed up for one from an author I enjoyed. I do them pretty regularly now, about one a month. I had no idea I could sign up for something like that.

This is embarrassing as a writer. I’ve done plenty of beta reading and critiques over the years but never have been an ARC reader until today. Do you do ARC readings?

I like reading Camilla Evergreen. I definitely see how some people would not enjoy it, but it's pretty fun dysfunctional chaos. Usually hilarious to me with my darker humor.

I am loving The Pendragon Cycle books. Historical meets fantasy meets faith and it's an Arthurian story. There is nothing to dislike about this series.

@NinaPanickssery My kids are blessed with two sets of grandparents who clamor to watch them. I also only work part-time so its only a few hours three days a week they even baby sit. Growing up, our grandparents passed fairly early so we were in preschool and with friends of the family.

Genuinely curious—why don’t more people use their own parents/kid’s grandparents for childcare as opposed to daycare/preschool/nannies (which seem more common)? Is it common for boomer grandparents to show disinterest in their grandchildren?

Are there women who leave the house completely barefaced? With no makeup at all. Just embracing their natural look. Curious...What’s that like for you?

@Strangeland_Elf Honestly everything we see online is fed to us by an algorithm and it isn't trying to give anyone warm fuzzy feelings about anything. So yes, we should be less reckless in our speech, but even then, you will be fed the negative by the algorithm regardless of what good is said.

One time on here I posted that the way I see “mom Twitter” talk about pregnancy and parenting and such makes me feel less in enthusiastic about the prospect of having kids. I said this in order to make the point that a lot of the people who fancy themselves “pro-natalists” are not helping their cause with how unpleasant they make everything. So of course “mom twitter”, as if to prove my point, started berating me for “letting strangers on the internet influence whether I have children”, which was not my actual point at all.

Maybe part of the reason there's a fertility crisis is because even in the pro-family circles you have people MAKING MONEY off of being judgey and purity testing parents over the most mundane stuff imaginable all the time. Uncle Screwtape level stuff from self proclaimed Christians on here day in and day out. Is the engagement farming worth the damage you're causing? It's like a whole cohort of y'all are infested with a spirit of this. Charity and grace to your brothers and sisters who are raising children instead of projecting your insecurities for a bit of coin in 2026, please.

When God redeems, He doesn’t need anyone’s permission. A past full of mistakes doesn’t disqualify a heart that’s surrendered. Be careful judging what God is restoring, He delights in using the unlikely to shame the proud. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master they stand or fall. Romans 14:4

No. Just, no. He hasn't become a Christian; he has become a MAGAvangelical. And no, the show wasn't about his transformation. There was nothing Christian about the TPUSA show, but it *was* thoroughly Evangelical: baptized in lyrical-debauchery celebrating topless dancers, bastards, pornos, the Drinking Class, meth, and hookers trickin' out... then the name of Jesus slapped onto the last minute like a bandaid on a corpse. There was literally nothing Christian about it. Only in Evangelicalism's fake faith does saying the name of Jesus instantly make something "Christian." Even demons say his name and quote his book. Kid Rock was NOT preaching the gospel of Jesus or modeling a transformed life birthed from repentance. But he *was* certainly proclaiming the false gospel that AmeriMAGAvangelicals readily accept as being of Christ, but is not. He sang about hookers and drugs, used slurs and openly celebrated being a thug. Have you no shame? Does a prostitute continue in her business in order to show proof of her transformation? Does a pedophile President continue to lust and rape women to show how he has changed? Paul wrote a LOT about that very "keep sinning to show I've changed" nonsense in Romans 6-7. Read it. I understand *that* transformation story is the story being told to make gullible Christians, once again, check their brains, Bibles, and beliefs at the door to fall in line and support evil. But faith without works or fruit is, as the Bible says, not faith at all. He has no fruit. He has no good works. So no, he is no Christian... though I will grant you, he may be what passes to MAGAvangelicals as a Christian, but not to what passes for Christ as Christian. The story that his set list was supposed to show spiritual progression and transformation was made up after the fact in an attempt to redeem the absolute atrocity of an event that can only be palatable to the already brainwashed. Evangelicals have a long history of embracing and platforming unchanged degenerates who suddenly have a "come to Jesus" moment, usually, shockingly, just before facing jail time, sales dips, or cultural irrelevance. All you have to do to get the "Christians" to buy what you are selling is slap the word "Jesus" somewhere in it, and you're good. No contrition, repentance, or allegiance with Christ required. Jesus would take a whip to all of you, as you stand in the way of people in need coming to the true God rather than your fake one. So until Kid Rock actually models something even remotely resembling Jesus, no. I won't buy it. You've been duped into grandstanding for a pedophile who still sings about raping young girls, a deplorable human who sang the most disgusting things before naming Jesus at a halftime show. He can take the name of Christ out of his mouth, and so can everyone who supports it.

@tyromper Exactly. Where is anyone finding the energy to keep meaningful friendships with the opposite sex? That work is going into my marriage. Are we defining friendship differently? I can't fathom putting work into that.

Very important to note: The people that argue the most against this ARE NOT MARRIED. I don't even fault them to be honest. 15 years ago FRIENDS were the most important thing in my life. I couldn't have fathomed not planning my life around FRIENDS. Once you get married, have kids, run a business etc. --- you FIGHT HARD to create TIME for weekly date nights with YOUR WIFE. Between kids, work, life, you must work hard to carve out 1-1 time to be MAN & WIFE & continue dating your spouse. (Otherwise the marriage & family suffer). Now imagine instead of weekly date night your husband goes to hang out with Julie & go bowling instead..... your wife just grabs dinner & movie with her friend Dale instead........ It's just NOT A THING when you're married. It's definitely a respect issue, but mostly these "important" friendships with the opposite sex just fizzle out naturally when you're married. AS THEY ALWAYS SHOULD. If you are a married man giving another woman besides your: -Wife -Mother -Daughter Your most valuable currencies, TIME & ENERGY, you are robbing your family at best & a scum bag with ulterior motives at worst. Same goes for women obviously. It's also, 100% disrespectful & often leads to terrible outcomes. A good rule of thumb: •Don't listen to unmarried people on marriage advice. •Don't listen to obese people on how to be healthy.
Tyler Todt@tyromper

I don't think it's EVER APPROPRIATE to have opposite sex heterosexual friends once you're married. •You have couple friends. •Guys have guy friends. •Girls have girl friends. Guys should NEVER have girl friends they text, talk to, or hang with without their wives & vice versa. It's inviting trouble & to be honest it's JUST WEIRD. I barely have any free time to hang with the guys that are my friends playing pickelball, shooting guns, etc. I can't even fathom what/why I would have a female friend outside my wife for. *One exception only. My 10 year old daughter is my best buddy! ❤️

My wife and I are getting baptized Sunday. I'm so excited! And to add to it, it's family Sunday at my church, which means no kid's classes. How beautiful that we get to demonstrate our faith and our journey to our children, that we bring them closer to knowing Jesus.

Fake Relationship at the Rusted K by Cali Black is so good. Stayed up way too late finishing it cause I caught the twist when I was just about to put it away for the night. Fantastic reformed bad boy character. The whole story is great.

I have been struggling to find time to write now that my youngest is super into everything I am doing. I am finding I will need to give up one of my prime reading times if I am going to write this book. I did get 600ish words in tonight.
