70mm Film and NTSC 4:3 is not the comparison you want to make. I'd say that's the problem wit h modern viewers. They are watching extremely high resolution, high fidelity motion pictures on a 4 inch screen and expecting to appreciate the difference.
All those engineers for the last 50 years are banging their heads on the table asking themselves, "Why did I bother?"
If you've never viewed and heard a film in a true IMAX 70mm theater (only 41 in the world), then I can understand the lack of appreciation for the art of film.
