Paulie Malignaggi blasts NHS staff as “inept” and says they “wouldn’t be allowed to work on farm animals” after treatment at Leeds General Hospital Former world champion Paulie Malignaggi, 45, was hospitalised at Leeds General Hospital after winning a bare-knuckle fight against Tyler Goodjohn in Leeds in October 2025. He suffered broken ribs, broken hands, facial cuts and temporary vision loss from an eye poke. Malignaggi arrived at 10pm and waited until around 4:30am for stitches while blood dripped down his face and staff allegedly gossiped in the next room. He later said on The Ariel Helwani Show that the cuts became badly infected and claimed NHS staff were so poor they “wouldn’t even be allowed to work on farm animals” in the US.
