I think it was a bit ahead of its time... but I see a big overlap with AI agents, which can be "embodied" in the virtual world, diffused and generated worlds... the only thing missing is the interface is not quite there, and someone needs to tie it together with AI in an easily consumable package. Not to mention, the cost of compute still needs to come down

So what happens to the metaverse, now? Oh, it just goes back to being a big nothing lol.
