I prefer seeing Jax as simply mentally unstable, disassociative, and overall prone to lashing out at those who try to help him as a learned defense mechanism even if it makes things worse for him later.
Making Jax trans doesn't just oversimplify his character, its lazy writing.

I love the show. I love the characters. But I absolutely hate this fandom. KH, FF, and even Steven Universe communities are less insufferable than this. So many of you are smug, cruel, dishonest, and manipulative over a cartoon character (and he isn't even the first you've acted like this over). There is no room for ambiguity, no room for alternate readings, no room for “I’m not convinced yet” without turning it into a purity test and a scoreboard. Headcanon becomes “canon.” Subtext becomes “proof.” Trollish creator and VA comments become ammunition. And anyone who doesn’t instantly agree gets treated like they’re stupid, hateful, or morally defective. My problem is not with the interpretation. My problem is with the behavior surrounding it. Not every deep and personal identity struggle is automatically about gender. I’ve loved seeing other interpretations of this character, e.g., that he’s gay, that he’s effeminate, or that he’s struggling with suicidal thoughts/self-destruction. They give food for thought and allow people to explore those topics and theories. You don’t want discussion. You want to win. You push away people who were perfectly willing to meet in the middle because being smug matters more. I'm done. Have your damn mud. You pigs deserve each other.
