If the bottom 50% of Americans only pay 2% of all taxes, why don’t we just ask the rich to pay 2% more so half of America can be completely tax free?
To the rich, it might mean one less private jet or yacht.
To the bottom 50%, it might mean not having to choose between rent, food, utilities, or healthcare.

decent is a stretch and i'm not looking to be phony either. I had that salary for about 2 years and it was really challenging to save for the future. you can pay your bills and have some cushion but real planning is not possible.
