Francesca Albanese, UN Special Rapporteur to the occupied Palestinian territories explains that the Palestinian crisis is not merely a humanitarian one that started recently, but a result of decades of occupation and apartheid.

I thank wholeheartedly the member states who are standing behind my work. In moment of pain and transition, comes the change. The relentless genocide: 58,380 victims now listed by name. A month ago #Gaza’s Ministry of Health released a list of 55,202 named and identified victims killed by Israel since 7 October 2023. Today, just 4 weeks later, its latest list covering up to 14 July contains 3,178 more names than in the June list. Included are many of the 870+ killed (and continuing to be killed) while trying to access the misnamed “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” aid distribution centres. We provide again with permission an Excel spreadsheet version of the list released today in PDF format by the Ministry.  As before, ages of infants under one year of age are given in days (up to 29 days old) and in months thereafter. This is both for the sake of the historical record, and to avoid the anomaly in previous lists of all under 1-year-olds being grouped as “0” years old. As before  we publish in both the original Arabic and English for accessibility for non-Arabic speakers in uses such as public readings and memorialisation initiatives. To my fellow Europeans, 450ml EU citizens : The EU, which had already disgraced itself by entering the Association agreement with Apartheid Israel years ago, is now refusing to suspend it. This is the final piece of evidence that the EU is consciously supporting Israel’s genocide of the Palestinians. This risks to be the end of EU values. @torfsrik Het sterrensysteem is inderdaad onzin, maar het bestaat al decennia. Met het bestaan of niet bestaan van intellectuele openheid heeft het niets te maken. Van een filosoof moét je openheid verwachten, en die toont Boudry niet/nooit, tenzij in schijnvorm en gedachtereducties.

Heel vaak ben ik het oneens met Maarten Boudry. Maar ik misprijs andere meningen niet. De Standaard doet dat helaas wel. En velt een oordeel zoals een Michelingids dat zou doen. We hebben in Vlaanderen dringend behoefte aan intellectuele openheid.
