There is a toxic sickness in the leadership of the Victorian Liberal Party.
The misogynistic comments by former Pride Branch chair Heath Wilson, referring to Moira Deeming as a b*tch, and Louise Staley’s classless post with Lily Allen’s “F You” song, both cheering her defeat yesterday, will face no repercussions.
The same group of people who thought they could chuck @MoiraDeemingMP out for standing up for women’s sex-based rights, smeared Sam Groth with despicable insinuations about his family, and threw farmer Susanne Marro under the bus in an attempt to knock Bev McArthur out through damage by association-in an ongoing campaign of leaking by “anonymous senior Liberal sources.”
The Liberal parliamentary team has few serious policy heavyweights in its ranks, and it will fail to attract talent while it continues to bludgeon its factional opponents in the media.
The Victorian Labor Party is bad, but the Liberals won’t be competitive against them until they get their house in order.
This behaviour has been going on for so long that I doubt they are aware of just how far down the drain their image is.

It is about time those of us in progressive politics owned up to our failures.
· We argued for social justice for all and ended up arguing it should only be for a favoured few identity groups.
· We argued for women’s rights and ended up arguing men could be women and could occupy women’s spaces.
· We argued for same-sex marriage and ended up with saying there are no sex-based rights.
· We argued for renewable energy and ended up allowing giant, multinational energy companies to bulldoze thousands of hectares of our precious, high biodiversity forests for wind farms.
· We argued for free speech and ended up by practising cancel culture.
· We argued for multiculturalism and ended up believing that criticism of the practices of a minority culture is, necessarily, racism.
· We argued that imperialism should be combated and ended up believing only US imperialism causes authoritarianism and repression.
