It is about time those of us in progressive politics owned up to our failures. ·       We argued for social justice for all and ended up arguing it should only be for a favoured few identity groups. ·       We argued for women’s rights and ended up arguing men could be women and could occupy women’s spaces. ·       We argued for same-sex marriage and ended up with saying there are no sex-based rights. ·       We argued for renewable energy and ended up allowing giant, multinational energy companies to bulldoze thousands of hectares of our precious, high biodiversity forests for wind farms. ·       We argued for free speech and ended up by practising cancel culture. ·       We argued for multiculturalism and ended up believing that criticism of the practices of a minority culture is, necessarily, racism. ·       We argued that imperialism should be combated and ended up believing only US imperialism causes authoritarianism and repression.

@KevinMilo5 Sorry Hannibal. See all those values at the beginning of each example I gave. Well, I still believe in all those things. So please keep calling me “looney”.

@DrewHutton45645 WOW !!! Drew you have driven me nuts for many years(pre social media) with what I viewed as naive and 'loony' views, but credit where credit is due..... welcome to the 'far right' where rational viewpoints are held...hahahhahaha...

@DrewHutton45645 The 'progressives' will call you a RWNJ, a fascist, a genocidaire, a white supremacist, a settler-colonialist, a misogynist, a transphobe and a climate denier. They are exceedingly nasty people and have made real corrupting inroads into all institutions.

@GabrielleJBauer @eachwayjase I was arrested about 20 times during the 1980s employing civil disobedience against the authoritarianism of the Bjelke-Pietersen government. We finally won with the passing of the Peaceful Assembly Act in 1992.

It seems that the Greens are not the only ones with problems at the top. The Victorian Liberals are doing their best to help get Victorian Labor back into govt with persecution of Moria Deeming. I’m glad Moria’s tough.

@bloodiedwombat @blackthugcat @boganintel @Greens Since I put the whole gender and free speech issues on the agenda not one Greens member has been forced out of the party for arguing a man cannot be a woman. I don’t care how many bridges I burn to achieve such outcomes.

Because the @Greens have never let bogans like Dave and I into the conversation, and that ultimately they look down on working class voices, and favour affluent shallow thinking gatekeepers who scare off chunks of voters. There is currently no place for working class people like me at the greens. There never was.
David Milner@DaveMilbo

Question: Why do you think the Australian Greens can't seem to bust out of the 10-14% range of the vote? Hostile media? Too beuigose? Their candidates? Their messaging? Their Their name? Is Australia just innately pro-war, pro-racism, pro-fossil fuels? The party seems stuck.

I am hanging onto my current membership of the Greens in the hope that I can wait out their current obsession with gender ideology and identity politics generally, but I won’t wait forever.

💥 @MoiraDeemingMP 💥 A fearless champion for women's and girl’s sex-based rights. A fierce defender of child safeguarding. A tireless advocate for Victorians. A woman of courage, conviction and common sense. These are exactly the kind of women we need more of in politics – not less. The fact that Moira has been dumped by @LiberalVictoria at her preselection ahead of the November state election is a disgrace, and makes it abundantly clear what the party's priorities are. Spoiler alert: It's not women and children. It's not conviction and common sense. And it's not winning. Moira will be a huge loss to the Victorian Liberals, but I have no doubt that she will continue to make a profound impact no matter what comes next. #IStandWithMoiraDeeming #SpringSt

If you're genuinely interested in addressing the population issue from an economic & ecological perspective (as the Greens once were), then I'm happy to help you develop policy. Notes on population growth: - a corporate agenda designed to funnel wealth from the bottom to the top - a major impactor of the environment DM me

Elect me convenor of the Queensland Greens, give me a sensible campaign team and I would end this obsession with gender ideology and performative politics, genuinely address the concerns of ordinary Australians, not just inner city elites, and their vote would be 25% by the next election.

@MCLove2024 I don’t have a “platform” at this stage. And I would put your concern under “performative politics”.

Two leading progressives in the US Congress, Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have announced legislation to impose a nationwide moratorium on the construction of new artificial intelligence data centers amid mounting concerns over their insatiable consumption of power and water resources, impacts on the climate, and other harms.

The Australian super-tech software company, Atlassian, has just sacked 1600 employees to stay afloat in the face of competition from AI. They will be joined by many other companies which are hit by this new disruption. Some in high-tech jobs will survive, perhaps even thrive, but many will either lose their jobs or take much reduced pay. In some cases, these people will be coming off salaries over $200,000 a year. One of the social ramifications of AI that I foresee is that many highly educated, well-paid, knowledge class employees will have to start doing what working class people have always had to do: survive in the jobs market.

When an old fella like me with a loving and much-loved family, living in a supportive community and a beautiful environment, who was one of the founders of the Greens and a life-long left-wing activist says he understands the alienation and resentments that underlie the reasons why so many people are now voting for One Nation, you would think many progressive people would realise the problem is deeper than mere racism or bigotry.

Malinauskas is right. Progressives have got to stop sneering at people who love this country and start being a bit mature. At the same time Malinauskis might counsel the ALP (and himself) about dropping all the woke bull***t that is a huge turnoff for most Australians. Fancy calling putting men in women’s prisons a “niche issue”. Shame on him. I reckon Albanese will do with “progressive patriotism” what he has always done: a bit of sugar coating, a couple of trite phrases and nothing to back it up so people will still see through it and continue to vote for One Nation.

@MythicallyMad @DrewHutton45645 Conservative about the environment being conserved and protected. Socially progressive. It sounds like you might be a lefty who thinks men magically turn into women, want to strip women of our rights, and have highly questionable ideas about Jews & support dangerous Islamists.

I’m looking for a centre left party that is sensible, knows what a woman is, could help run the country if necessary, respects working class Australians, loves this country, and doesn’t run after every ‘luxury belief’ in vogue. If you find one, would you let me know, please?

We need political representatives who are not captives of vested interests - big business (ALP, LNP with mining, gambling etc) or ideological extremists (eg Greens)
