MODERATE RISK of severe weather today for parts of Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas. Initial semi-discrete supercells will pose a threat of very large to “giant” hail of 2-4+ inches in diameter and strong to intense tornadoes. 🔥SMOKY THUNDERSTORMS⛈️ The smoke plume from the Seven Cabins Fire near Roswell, NM extends more than 400 miles to the northeast and is likely interacting with the line of severe thunderstorms in Kansas tonight.

Big tornado north of Grand Island, NE appeared to develop right as the strong cold front hit the storm from the northwest (thin line moving left to right in loop, catching storm from behind). Was likely to be a one & done scenario as cold northwesterlies undercut the storm.

Dodge City, KS is going to experience weather whiplash of impressive proportion over the next 36 hours. The dryline will oscillate back and forth across the city before a cold front crashes down. Volatile dewpoint fluctuations will make for one heck of a 24hr METAR loop!
