Cyclone #NARELLE may circumnavigate ~3/4 of Australia over the next 2 weeks. 🔄🌀 Another important call out: she’s spinning clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere!
Michael Ferragamo@FerragamoWx

Cyclone #NARELLE has its eyes set on the Gulf once crossing the Cape York Peninsula. It’ll be disorganized, and northerly shear may limit reorganization, but it’ll be interesting to see how the cyclone interacts with the gulf!

@WxFront This update is great! I’d love to see an on-screen alert counter icon that opens a centralized list of all active watches and warnings, allowing users to either read the official text or instantly snap the map to the alert polygon. It’s simple but helps a lot during severe wx.

@BigOlHunk Go to the menu and scroll all the way down to the bottom. You can adjust the duration to anything between 30 minutes and 24 hours for radar! Satellite loops up to 12 hours are also included.

Did you know that this feature is connected to the extreme heat in the desert southwest? The blocking ridge of high pressure centered over Southern California that’s bringing record temperatures to the western US is also forcing the jet stream up and over it through British Columbia. As a result, a nearly stationary trough is present over the Gulf of Alaska. The cyclone swirling in the radar loop above is barely moving because it’s centered under this trough. The surface low - or another one like it - could be there for the better part of the next 10 days until the western US ridge begins to break down.

@NWSDesMoines So cool to watch it all melt - and to see those temperatures shoot up into the 70s in SW IA! 😎

The following 2 images show how much snowpack has eroded over IA through the course of the day today. Snow can be seen in green with the first image from ~9a this morning and the second image from ~1230p this afternoon. Much of the snowpack in central IA has melted! 📷CIRA

Oh, and 24-hour radar loops are free in WF. Download the app, open it up, go to the Gulf of Alaska, and long press on the map to switch to the nearest radar.

@WxFront Have chased for 25 years and I’m a long time Radarscope user. I have found the new king. Radarscope, Radar Omega, WeatherWise, none compare to WeatherFront. Excellent job!

Nearly the whole state of Iowa was covered in snow this morning (lime green color). Just 8 hours later, most of the state is snow-free (royal blue is bare ground). It’s amazing how powerful a March sun angle can be!

The expanse of significant snow cover from last weekend’s blizzard is especially evident in the Day Cloud Phase (left) and Natural Color (right) RGBs! 🛰️❄️ Lake-induced clouds over Superior and Michigan are an added bonus. ⛅️🌨️

PRECISE STORM TRACKING The sub-hourly RRFS model provides output at 15 minute intervals out to 18 hours. This guidance, available exclusively in WF, is especially useful for tracking large synoptic features like squall lines. Combined with WF’s detailed street mapping, you can track the arrival of storms at your location with pinpoint accuracy!
