@tanishabassan @bilal_akh I don't think the Canadian government could have done much differently. India needs to stop killing Canadians on Canadian soil as well as stop throwing tantrums like it's doing right now. There is no incentive for Canada to lie (where they know there will be retaliation).
English

@tanishabassan @bilal_akh As for Rushi Sunak, why don't you talk about how he's married to the daughter of the founder of Infosys. He clearly has an incentive not to anger the indian government as the company operates out of India
English

@tanishabassan @bilal_akh What incentives does the USA have to lie? Same with Canada? India has a clear incentive to do this as they wanted to get rid of this guy badly.
Ultimately it's Canada's responsibility to speak up and protect it's own citizens. We can't expect other countries to do this.
English

USA has a history of targeted killings, same as what is being accused of India which there is still no proof of yet so maybe a bit hypocritical to trust them?
And if this is true, why doesn’t the USA speak up now? Where are the rest of the five eyes backing up Canada?
I’m not blaming Canada, I’m criticizing Trudeau on his method & manner for handling this, why did this situation lead to India revoking visas? There must be a better way to handle affairs without citizens being affected and embarrassing Canada on a international stage.
If Trudeau made this announcement and had evidence ready that India could not refute, I would never raise an issue.
You simply cannot make such a huge allegation, not provide evidence and not expect the opposition to retaliate where only the citizens of your own country suffer.
And again many red flags around if this person was a legitimate Canadian citizen or not, having been rejected twice!
English

@tanishabassan @bilal_akh India is the one who banned you from going back. I don’t see why you are blaming Canada (instead of blaming India)? I trust Canadian and usa intelligence more then what india says (which has a clear incentive to kill this guy)

@bilal_akh There is also this POV which would mean India was not involved and Trudeau should still be scrutinized on his offensive allegations.
Evolving story, I’m upset that Canadian citizens with families in India are caught in the middle.

Possible that: - Hardeep Singh Nijjar was an informant for RCMP and/or Canadian intelligence (see news report about his frequent meetings) - A Khalistani gang found out, bumped him off and made it look like an Indian agent was involved. ctvnews.ca/politics/harde…

The hypocrisy of elites: They recommend average outcomes for everyone else, but seek the best for themselves.
They recommend harmful behaviors and counterproductive policies for non-elites while being the ones most insulated from the consequences.

@rsg @eriktorenberg I am definitely not a watch expert, so I’ll take your word for it (I just said what I read in the article) how much did they cost back then?
English

@x0r @eriktorenberg Here he is wearing a yellow gold Day-Date (left) and a GMT (right)
Yes, Rolex as a brand wasn’t the status symbol it is today
But a solid gold Swiss watch was a status display. Especially when banging it around against a steel watch

English

@rsg @eriktorenberg “the watches gave Castro a three-time zone overview by a glance on his wrist. The watches have been set for Havana, Washington, and Moscow time.”
English

@rsg @eriktorenberg Not a fan of Castro but the article literally says “Rolex watches weren’t a status symbol when this picture was taken.”
English

@jones_spencera @crc @render I’ve been wanting to try this but never got around to it. Render allows for custom docker files so you can use that. The GitHub for litestream shows a way to do this so maybe it’s a good starting point:

@AgoristView @Snowden I just read it again, and realized what you are saying and now I agree with you. If you want 100 percent no holds barred granite on supply a transparent ledger is the way to go. I still think it’s a fair trade off in order to keep fungibility and privacy (but that’s subjective)

The worst part of cryptocurrency transforming into dragon-level wealth is witnessing good people emotionally devolve into dragons themselves: so intellectually paralyzed by the fear that everyone they see threatens their hoard that they lose sight of the world beyond their cave.

Respect @Snowden for his work on privacy and criticism of CBDCs. But this clip is a disaster. TLDR: -Taproot makes Bitcoin privacy worse -Lightning is "shenanigans" -Attacks core devs -Hypes NFTs + privacy coins (except Monero which he trashes) When SnowdenCoin? Say it ain't so
English

@AgoristView @Snowden It’s a pretty interesting read. This blog post explains it pretty well: getmonero.org/2020/01/17/aud…
English

@AgoristView @Snowden Monero hides the amount of money being transacted for each transaction, but the supply is auditable. I don’t think the two are mutually exclusive.
English

@Snowden For BTC to remain sound, it must be scarce & immutable
L1 privacy requires a hard fork which threatens immutability
Obfuscation of amnts opens door to undetectable supply bugs
Txn size wld increase which leads to calls for larger blocks, a centralizing force
