@wonsnedy mannnn I find it hilarious when people in America discover Douyin filters in china are mainstream. Literally this is every girl on Chinese TikTok, every single one of them uses Ai live filters that make them look like KPOP or FinalFantasy characters.

New tutorial free on YouTube! youtube.com/watch?v=BkHTQ-… Tired of rendering with Cycles and Eevee in Blender? Give Octane a try! This tutorial is an introduction to the Octane plugin for Blender and how I use it in a Concept Design workflow. Did I mention the plugin is free?!?!?

that is not even what pisses me off about this whole thing. These ex-Respawn guys are talking about this like they took a 'BIG RISK' leaving their old "Corporate jobs" and "golden handcuffs" to "go indie". WHEN THEY LITERALLY GOT MILLIONS IN VC FUNDING RIGHT OFF THE BAT. They're earning 6 figure salaries with a sizable team and pretending its "Indie". Compare that to actual Indie devs who have 0 funding and made their games while working service jobs like ConcernedApe did while working on Stardew valley. its like laughable what these idiots think is "hardship"/"risk-taking"

I think it’s time we talk about something uncomfortable. Over the last decade, social media has fundamentally changed how people experience reality. Social Media Algorithms reward agreement and then communities form around those shared views. Dissent gets filtered out. Over time, you stop hearing actual criticism - not because you’re right, but because you’ve essentially curated it away. That certainly feels good in the short term. You feel validated. All the time. You start to believe that you're special because you surround yourself with people that tell you that you are and you're telling them that they are. And you're all one happy fucking family full of very special people. But that creates a dangerous illusion: That your bubble represents the actual world out there. And then you get the reality check: You ship a product, you release a film, you launch a game... and suddenly you're not being pampered anymore. And it feels shocking - almost offensive - because how could you have been wrong after you've been told you're right so many times, over and over again? But what you're experiencing is not malice. It's insulation. The actual truth is: Growth requires friction. It requires being told you’re wrong. It requires being humbled. And it's no goddamn fun, but you'll be better for it afterwards. I also learned that the hard way: When I went to art school, I thought I was talented. I’d been told so my whole life cause I was drawing and painting pretty pictures that looked nice. Then I got there and realized that “pretty” isn’t the same as meaningful. I got my work torn apart, work that I had labored over. My tutors ripped into me because I didn't respect them enough to actually think through my work. And... they were right. That was painful. But it was the lesson I needed at the time. The same thing happens in game development right now. Because people form these bubbles, they think they've nailed it. But then players tell them otherwise. What matters is how you react then: Either retreat into defensiveness and keep making the same mistakes or actually listen and be willing to learn. Life is short, folks. Being humbled might be uncomfortable for a while. But usually you then get to look back at some point and understand that this was the moment you started to learn something new.

Bruh. "GOLDEN HANDCUFFS"?? "taking Risks"??? You guys literally got VC FUNDING, working COMFORTABLY with 6 figure salaries. Compare that to True indie Devs who have to work on something while literally working at mcdonalds level jobs like ConcernedApe did on Stardew Valley. 🤣

If you include local debt, China's debt/GDP ratio might be pushing 200% That's astoundingly high. (The US is arguably already in a fiscally unsustainable position with a mere 120%). Does this mean China will suffer the same fate as Japan in the 1990s? How much does this debt problem actually matter for China's ability to compete at the frontier in high tech & AI, since provinces like Shanghai and Guangdong (where some of the leading Chinese are based) are in a relatively stronger fiscal position? Full episode with Victor Shih @vshih2 out now!

You can’t treat them as one entity. Way too many differences. And you think these nations have the economies to absorb the ever-increasing exports needed from the declining populations? It doesn’t matter what the absolute number is if China, Japan and SK “age out”. They’re also much more dependent on trade outside of their own region than other nations, so they can’t even be self sufficient as modern nations. Energy imports alone make these nations fragile.

This is quite consequential. China, Japan, South Korea and the countries of ASEAN just issued a joint statement (asean.org/joint-statemen…) in which they take a unified stance against "escalating trade protectionism", a clear reference to Trump's tariffs. They write that their common "policy priority" is "to reinforce long-term resilience" of the region, which given the policies they detail clearly means building financial and trade infrastructure that aims at reducing their exposure to the US. The statement outlines a comprehensive strategy to strengthen trade between the signatories, enhance local currency bond markets and reduce dependence on Western financial institutions (via, for instance, the expansion of the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralisation, CMIM). Particularly notable is their explicit support for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) - the world's largest trade agreement that includes all the signatories but not the US. All in all, Trump is achieving the unthinkable: bringing East and Southeast Asia together in an economic bloc that seeks to derisk itself from America.

@notXiangyu ROFLMAO! 🤡🤡🤡 You’re merely perpetrating that huge lie and propaganda by PRC against the TRUE reason behind those recalls - to destroy your UFWD’s anti-freedom and anti-democracy pro-CCP agents that are masquerading as KMT legislators! 🙄

The DPP claims to uphold democracy, yet it's pushing to recall all 52 KMT legislators while smearing their supporters as CPC stooges. Recalls are meant for individuals who breach public trust, not for overturning election results you don't like. The DPP is therefore undemocratic.

In light of my recent piece on embracing China's rise, accusations that I am paid by the Chinese government have started rolling in. This is obviously ludicrous, but proves something important: if you don't support Western economic dominance, you hold a fringe opinion. This is honestly bizarre. Why do we hold up the West as a beacon of light and China as a veil of gloom, especially when comparing their recent track records on issues related to poverty reduction and the green transition? We need to shift the narrative.
