Many civilians were killed at Pearl Harbor. A hospital was hit . This one hit a school 200 ft from a military installation. Iran has attacked our soldiers in Iraq. They have launched missiles at our bases which have killed and seriously injured our soldiers. During the negotiations they told Marco Rubio they had 468 Kg of 60% enriched U235 and could refine it to weapons grade 90% in a few days. Enough to have 11 nuclear bombs.
They rejected the terms set forth by the US while the US military was so obviously building up in the area.
This wasn't a surprise and isn't unjustified.
English

The five-second epistemology of Pearl Harbor.
The empire that launched the Pearl Harbor invoking Pearl Harbor. February 28th. No declaration of war. No congressional authorization. Pretending to negotiate through back channels while the bombers were already in the air. A surprise attack on a sovereign nation in the first hour. Except Pearl Harbor hit a military base. This one hit schools. This one killed civilians. This one killed the supreme leader of a country while pretending to talk to it. The empire that Pearl Harbored Iran three weeks ago telling Japan it believes in surprise. The empire that surprise attacked a sovereign nation complaining about a surprise attack eighty-four years ago. The autocorrect. Every word producing its antonym.
And then insulting Japan at a press conference. Japan. The empire’s most important Pacific ally. The ally the empire needs for the China containment strategy. The ally that produces the lithography chemicals the semiconductor supply chain depends on. The ally that buys its energy from the Gulf — LNG from Qatar through the Strait that’s closed, oil through Hormuz that’s shut. The empire just destroyed Japan’s energy supply by closing the Strait and hitting Ras Laffan and putting Japan’s LNG contracts under force majeure for three to five years and now the empire is dunking on Japan with a World War II reference at a press conference. The customer service. Modi is calling Oman and Malaysia and France managing the supply chain. The empire is telling its biggest Asian ally to go fuck itself with an eighty-four year old grudge while Japan’s helium and LNG and oil imports are offline because of the empire’s war.
The surprise that surprised the surpriser. I didn’t know about South Pars. The empire that doesn’t tell its allies about the war also doesn’t tell its own president about the war. The evangelical Disney World surprising Trump. Trump surprising Japan. Japan surprised by the energy crisis the empire caused. The surprise chain. Graham → Mossad → Netanyahu → surprise → war → surprise → South Pars → surprise → I didn’t know → surprise → why didn’t you tell me about Pearl Harbor. The architecture surprising everyone including the president sitting inside it.
Day twenty. Pearl Harbor. The empire launched one three weeks ago. On a country it was pretending to negotiate with. Hit schools. Killed civilians. And now invoking it against the ally whose energy supply it just destroyed. The Strait is closed. Some surprise. Some empire.

@mattvanswol The healthcare payment system Is broken. If the consumer was more involved directly with the hospitals and doctors It would cost much less and be more efficient.
English

Nearly a year ago, my wife went to the hospital for stomach pain. They did a CT Scan of her abdomen and thankfully didn't find anything serious.
We got a bill in the mail of $9,117.42
I spent months talking to insurance, the hospital, billing appeals...
I was told the claim was still processing.
I was told the claim was out of the normal service area.
I was told it wasn't clear it was medically necessary.
I was told the insurance wasn't valid on the date of service.
Finally, we got it handled, but it took well over 6 months from the day we got the first bill to the day we finished the process and paid.
We did everything right. We have insurance. We pay our insanely high premiums every single month.
It's just so frustrating.
This whole healthcare system is broken, from top to bottom.

Iran never signed that agreement yet Obama released their frozen $1.5 billion anyway. That cash is what accelerated their program.
Thhe JPOA allowed iran to continue to enrich uranium to the point where they could be within a year of weapons grade. The end of that year is, guess when...
Now.

Senator Graham says he has never heard Trump so angry. Somewhere in Europe, nobody is sleeping badly about this.
Let’s be precise about what’s actually happening here.
Europe has spent thirty years trying to contain Iran through diplomacy. The JCPOA was a European initiative. Trump tore it up in 2018. Iran’s nuclear programme accelerated directly as a result. Europe warned this would happen. Nobody listened. Now Graham is calling European diplomacy “a miserable failure” while standing next to the man who blew up the only agreement that was working.
As for the Strait of Hormuz. Europe imports oil through it, yes. So does China. So does India. So does Japan. If Graham wants a coalition, he has a planet to call. What he appears to want, however, is specifically European military assets deployed in support of a war Europe was not consulted on, did not request and does not want.
That is not an alliance. That’s a shit show.
Graham says this makes him “second guess the value of these alliances.” Europe has been second guessing that value since Trump. Welcome to the conversation, Senator. You are about eight years late.
English

Just spoke to @POTUS about our European allies’ unwillingness to provide assets to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning, which benefits Europe far more than America. I have never heard him so angry in my life. I share that anger given what’s at stake.
The arrogance of our allies to suggest that Iran with a nuclear weapon is of little concern and that military action to stop the ayatollah from acquiring a nuclear bomb is our problem not theirs is beyond offensive. The European approach to containing the ayatollah’s nuclear ambitions have proven to be a miserable failure.
The repercussions of providing little assistance to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning are going to be wide and deep for Europe and America.
I consider myself very forward-leaning on supporting alliances, however at a time of real testing like this, it makes me second guess the value of these alliances. I am certain I am not the only senator who feels this way.

@SenMarkKelly This is an accurate statement by Secretary of War. Giving quarter requires surrender by the enemy and their soldiers taken prisoner.
THE UNITED STATES HAS NO BOOTS ON THE GROUND IN IRAN.
HOW DOES A FIGHTER JET OR BOMBER TAKE PRISONERS?
English

Secretary Hegseth needs to explain exactly what he meant when he said “no quarter." It's well established that it means to take no prisoners — to kill them instead of accept their surrender. That is illegal under U.S. and international law, would put our servicemembers at greater risk, and erodes the good order and discipline of the best military in the world.

@sentdefender I guess it didn't learn from the other 2 that flew over Iraq and "had accidents"
This plane was obviously damaged and is preparing for a crash landing by burning fuel.
English

A U.S. Air Force KC-135R “Stratotanker” Aerial-Refueling Tanker (61-0324) has been circling off the coast and over Israel now for nearly two hours burning fuel, after returning from a mission supporting Operation Epic Fury over Iraq. Multiple other Stratotankers have returned to Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv in that time, suggesting a possible issue preventing landing with this particular KC-135.

The Morrill Fire in Nebraska is now 572,000 and 0% contained.
The Rocky Mountain Complex Incident Management Team 1 (CIMT1) assumed management of the Morrill and Cottonwood Fires yesterday evening.
Update from Northern Rockies CIMT1:
“The team’s operations group spent yesterday alongside local crews on both fires to begin becoming familiar with the area. Scouting and planning will continue today as additional resources arrive and are incorporated into the firefighting effort. High winds are expected to keep aircraft grounded.
The Morrill fire made a push south in the Clear Creek area west of Lake McConaughy but did not cross the North Platte River. Today team personnel will support local resources engaging the fire. Firefighters will continue to scout the area and track resources. The structure protection group will conduct assessments.”

@APEXFEED01 @sentdefender I wonder how many times Macron has had to update his contact list.
English

It's encouraging that Macron is still holding these lines open with Tehran. In a conflict this volatile, where the risk of total regional escalation is so high, having at least one major Western power engaging in direct diplomacy is vital. Calling for a 'new political and security framework' is the only realistic way out of this cycle, even if it feels a world away right now
English

According to a statement from French President Emmanuel Macron, he spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian today on the ongoing conflict between the U.S./Israel and Iran. In the statement, President Macron said he urged his Iranian counterpart to stop strikes on regional nations while also reiterating that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Additionally, he also said that “Only a new political and security framework can ensure peace and security for all.”

English

@sentdefender I am pretty sure Macron also offered some of their white flag stockpiles

@AmbJohnBolton "After over 30 years of negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear weapons..."
John. I think you will find Trump's justification in that one sentence.
English

Trump did not make the case to the American public or Congress for this war before it began, which is a mistake. After over 30 years of negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear weapons, he needed to convince the public that regime change was necessary.
