Ich verurteile den bewaffneten Angriff der USA auf Venezuela. Dieser Angriff stellt eine schwere Verletzung des Gewaltverbots der UNO-Charta dar. Es ist eine Frage unserer Glaubwürdigkeit, dies auch klar zu benennen. Wir müssen die Flagge der internationalen Rechtsstaatlichkeit hochhalten. Wir sehen, wie sich die Welt geopolitisch auch im neuen Jahr im Rückwärtsgang bewegt und sich die internationalen Strukturen vor unseren Augen auflösen. Gerade angesichts der Ereignisse in Venezuela führt für uns Europäer kein Weg daran vorbei, diese Realität anzuerkennen und ein Gegenmodell anzubieten, das das Recht des Stärkeren nicht zur politischen Methode macht.
