@taimurabdaal I relate strongly to this. Especially the flashes of awareness part. And getting randomly shown posts of parents going through loss. Those just knock me out in a way I didn’t think possible previously. A fear I never considered previously and now it can be all consuming

Reflections after 18 months of being a dad: - All the cliches about the good stuff are true and I think there aren't really any new insights to be had about this stuff - When she was really small I would dream about when she'd be able to cuddle me back. Now that she can, it's even better than I imagined. Best feeling ever - We're super blessed that both our mums are around and help a lot. Makes life much much easier - Seeing your parents love and enjoy your kid as much as you do + share in the journey with you is really special and a unique pleasure that I didn't anticipate beforehand - It's getting more fun as she's getting bigger and can say + understand + do more - At the same time, I feel sad that she's going to get bigger and everything will change - You don't know what's been written for you or how long you'll have with your kids. I get random flashes of awareness of this and it is scary - About once a week the algo shows me a tweet/thread from someone who lost their kid(s) very young. It's heartbreaking and terrifying but a good reminder of the nature of this life and makes me a bit more thankful - One of these posts was from a mum who lost 3 kids young to a genetic disease. She mentioned that when she re-watches videos of her babies, she takes screenshots so that she can have new pictures of them to look at. I think about this often when I'm taking pics of our daughter - Sharing pics + videos with family/friends on Whatsapp + private instagram is super fun and brings everyone together and enriches everyone's life. It's so awesome to be able to do this + look back on pics - I find it hard to relate to people who say that after they had kids, the other stuff in their life stopped mattering and life became all about the kids. I still care about other things - I also find it hard to relate to people who say that having kids resolved their existential questions about meaning + purpose. Maybe I just didn't have these before and my crisis is yet to come - The shift in social circles is real — especially on weekends it's easier to hang out with friends who have kids of similar age with similar constraints, and I imagine this only gets stronger as the kids get old enough to actually be friends + play together - I miss having long adult conversations. It's very difficult when hanging out with parents + kids together because someone gets interrupted by a kid every few mins, and your primary concerns are attending to your kids so "having a proper chat" takes a backseat. I imagine this gets better once the kids can do stuff independently for longer - It's so great when a place is family friendly. We recently stopped at a motorway services that was amazing on this, but it felt very alien, like we were in a different country. Wish the UK were more family friendly by default. London Transport Museum is epic - I have a newfound awareness of the depth + richness + complexity of peoples' lives and my conception of the older adults that I know (aunts, uncles, etc) is now much more constituted by their role as parents and family members than by themselves as "individuals"

nearly the entire og guard of anti-state crypto—udi, nic, bankless, ameen, toly—is now whiling away their days clamoring for war i say this with no great animus. it's just a testament to how profoundly out of touch this industry is with the world's ideals—and its own.

You are not the gatekeeper of our industries ideals The Islamic regime is the most barbaric and warmongering state on the planet. They are a death cult in charge of an incredible stockpile of munitions. Sadly, we cannot naively pacifist our way to a better future. We are doing what we must in order to create the future we deserve.

@banteg Agreed. I made a few skills for multi model reviews. One for reviewing docs/specs/plans, another for reviewing implementation against plans. They spin up subagents that use headless codex and Gemini agents to do a 3 way review then synthesise an aligned issue matrix Effective

this is codex vs claude basically. claude will yap some plan that sounds good on the first look, but then when you get deep into implementing, you realize it was bullshitting you. codex pushes through more reliably when you are deep into hard problems. it works slower but it keep progressing instead of going in circles.

@vadympetryshyn I did actually, you have to enable "use option key as meta" which is a setting thats available in most terminals, you can find something equivalent in macos terminal, cursor settings, iterm etc

Anthropic just dropped new release of Claude Code. Don't forget to run claude update Tested it out. - Now you can ask claude to run agent in the background and jump to another in the same terminal line - Useful I found that's switching the model anytime with option + p Need more time to test it, maybe will record a video soon

@frankdilo Every single time I see one of these posts, I ask the same question, and till this day not a single person has answered this for me: How do you deal with long-running discussions with Claude when there’s a limited terminal history and no automatic checkpoints?

I am finding myself going back to VS Code over Cursor. Feels sad for Cursor, but Claude Code completely took over for me and VS Code just feels more stable and uses fewer resources + is updated more frequently with UX improvements. Still keeping my Cursor subscription until the end of the month, but I might cancel it if I don't feel the need to go back during this time.

Great post I’m finding it extremely useful Some things I’d like to improve in my workflow: 1. Integration testing - currently I find myself only warming up to the idea and no clear path on how to do it for iOS apps. Have successfully used it to debug api problems using side python scripts but ideally it could deploy and test to iOS without me. Also in general having it to invent tests and go into longer loops would be really appealing 2. Hands off mode - superwhisper is a great start, and ideally I’d like it to be from my phone. SSH + tmux works pretty well to get an interface, but it’s still too clunky to be the experience I want. I think totally possible to vibe code a good first version 3. Multiplayer mode - not sure yet what’s the right way to collaborate with a colleague. Currently leaning towards sharing a terminal 4. History - it would be very educational to be able to replay how things went, but I don’t think there’s a way to access history

Wrote about my learnings from using Claude Code (and coding agents in general) quite extensively for a month. I'm curious if some of you have made similar experiences and know some additional tricks?

I asked @gavofyork what modifications were needed to run the DOOM binary on @Polkadot's JAM. You are not bullish enough.

Live demo in Shanghai from @gavofyork It's really amazing that you can run normal software with an onchain VM with JAM, which means you can run everything in the entire internet with JAM, and without any modification, its just work, natively. Really a miracle, that actually happening!

@alice_und_bob I saw them talk about it as a potential when they announced JAM but they’ve got it running faster than I expected. “Doom runs on a toaster” is a bit of a cliche But I think this is the first time it’s run on a non classical underlying cpu architecture. JAM = general compute

It’s UNBELIEVABLE that this is not picked up by any news outlet so far. Gavin Wood just publicly ran Doom ON-CHAIN. At 30fps (the system could do 900). Not just the server logic, but the actual graphics rendering! And then had a second program run in another core ON-CHAIN to read the frame buffer and output it. You cannot overstate how significant this is! You can run ANY program Polkadot JAM. And then let multiple of them have inter-process communication. This is starting to resemble an actual computer. This is such a big leap. This IS part of blockchain history now. Where is the news reporting on this? Where are the other researchers congratulating Gavin and the team (and teams!) that have been grinding on this for over 1.5 years?

🕹️ DOOM Just Ran on JAM! Today, @gavofyork demoed DOOM running on JAM at Fudan University in Shanghai. JAM shows blockchains can go beyond transactions, enabling decentralized computing with continuous execution flow. It’s a breakthrough moment for Web3 computing.
