@xiangtaner Couldn't really speculate. They can go in a lot of directions from here. They disclosed a small stake in a VC backed co last Q, otherwise very little info on targets.

Any $lab owners out there? Standard Biotools, f/k/a Fluidigm, was recapped by Viking and Casdin in April ’22 after a failed sales process. Viking/Casdin backed a private vehicle led by Dr. Michael Egholm (former CTO of Danaher LS) to build a platform for high-impact, sub-scale tools. Their first deal was injecting $250m to reset the business and pursue M&A. 1/

@Calvsams From AI insights - AI related by probability: 1.Visiopharm-like pathology analytics company 2.Mindpeak-like segmentation foundation model company 3.academic spatial-omics copilots (spatiAlytica class) 4.dataset/model licensing partnerships (PharosAI-type)

@Calvsams Some insights from AI: they first buy a smaller spatial biology or proteomics company, probably in the $75M to $250M range. Seer-like or Vizgen-like assets make the most sense because they add a growth narrative while preserving enough cash to support operations and future deals.

Take a look at the new issue of @theJIDJournal, see what's included in the March issue! jidonline.org/current On the cover: #Imaging mass cytometry image showing immune checkpoint inhibitor–induced lichen planus, with B-cell aggregates surrounded by T cells and macrophages. Lichen planus patient samples were analyzed using imaging mass cytometry. Staining shows CD4 (green), CD8 (yellow), CD20 (red), CD68 (magenta), and CD138 (cyan). Imaging was performed using a Hyperion Imaging System (Standard BioTools). Image processing and analysis were conducted with Visiopharm® software. Helios (Cytometry by Time-of-Flight) Helios is an advanced mass cytometry platform developed by Fluidigm (now Standard BioTools). It uses CyTOF (Cytometry by Time-of-Flight) technology to analyze single cells with high precision.  standardbio.com/support/instru… Helios™ brings high-parameter capabilities to protein research, expanding the breadth and depth of phenotypic and functional profiling in single cells. Helios technology addresses the challenges of high-parameter, single-cell analysis, providing researchers with tools to dissect the complex proteomes of cell systems in normal and diseased states. Helios analyzes individual cells labeled with stable metal isotopes using state-of-the-art inductively coupled plasma time-of-flight (TOF) technology. With 135 detection channels, Helios can simultaneously resolve multiple elemental probes at high acquisition rates, thereby maximizing the per-cell information obtained from a single sample. The system’s re-designed pneumatic sample introduction system and software interface make mass cytometry more accessible than ever. alab.com.pl/produkt-plik/1… Hyperion Helios CyTOF The Hyperion Imaging Mass Cytometer (IMC) is part of Fluidigm's line of CyTOF systems which allows for tissue samples to be “imaged” and for the masses of metals to be quantified in relation to the tissue morphology at a resolution of 1 square micron. The advantage of the system is that an investigator can label the tissue sample with as many as 50 different metal-tagged antibodies (lanthanide isotopes).  cityofhope.org/research/share… Helios, a CyTOF System User Guide SW Version 6.7 fredhutch.org/content/dam/ww… The CyTOF XT™ is the successor to the Helios system. While the Helios remains a core technology in many labs, the XT offers enhanced automation, including an autosampler carousel for walk-away operation and automated clog sensing. However, some researchers still prefer the Helios for its continuous sample delivery and specific signal performance in certain mass ranges.  CyTOF XT™ PRO The CyTOF XT PRO system takes proven mass cytometry to speeds of up to 4x faster, improves walk-away automation, and advances sample barcoding capabilities to standardize and streamline analysis for larger studies. This powerful cytometry platform with proven sensitivity, high dynamic range and the resolution to capture 50-plus targets simultaneously, including cell surface markers, signaling proteins and cytokines, supports biomarker discovery, patient stratification and treatment response monitoring. standardbio.com/products-servi…
