PERSVERKLARING nav uitsluiting GroenLinksPvdA Arnhem Dat GroenLinks-PvdA Forum voor Democratie wil uitsluiten van zelfs de verkennende gesprekken, is veelzeggend voor de manier waarop men in Arnhem blijkbaar met democratische vertegenwoordiging wil omgaan. Bij deze verkiezingen hebben 4.775 Arnhemmers hun stem aan Forum voor Democratie gegeven. Dat heeft geleid tot 3 zetels in de gemeenteraad. Forum is daarmee de grootste stijger en dus winnaar van deze verkiezingen in Arnhem. Dat is een serieus en zichtbaar signaal van inwoners die een andere koers voor hun stad verlangen. Juist daarom is het op zijn zachtst gezegd opzienbarend dat men al aan de voorkant besluit dat dit geluid kennelijk niet eens aan tafel hoeft te verschijnen. Een verkennende fase hoort in het teken te staan van luisteren, wegen en begrijpen wat er leeft in de stad. Wanneer een partij die fors heeft gewonnen op voorhand wordt buitengesloten, raakt dat niet alleen ons als partij, maar vooral ook de Arnhemmers die heel bewust voor een ander geluid hebben gekozen. Wij zijn daar enorm kritisch op. Tegelijk blijft voor ons één punt overeind: Forum voor Democratie staat wél open voor het gesprek. Wij doen niet aan politieke uitsluiting van andere partijen in de gemeenteraad. Juist in een democratie voer je het gesprek ook met partijen waarmee je fundamenteel van mening verschilt. Wij hadden eerlijk gezegd weinig anders verwacht. Deze reflex past bij een bestuurscultuur die zichzelf graag als open en verbindend presenteert, maar in de praktijk moeite heeft met afwijkende stemmen. Hoe vaker gevestigde partijen kritische kiezers negeren, hoe groter de afstand tot de bevolking wordt. En hoe sterker uiteindelijk de behoefte groeit aan partijen die die kiezers wel serieus nemen. Forum voor Democratie zal die stem in Arnhem onverminderd blijven vertolken. #fvd
