Who could have imagined that a small idea could snowboall over three years into a multi-scale study, spanning from single genes to cross-species comparisons? We hope the methodology here will serve as a paradigm for leveraging genetic data in electrophysiological research.

@MattielloConsul @NicoleCRust Thank you for your interest. If you teach a course on computational neuroscience, the publisher can send you a complimentary copy. But if it’s expensive for students to buy, I hope one day the book can be translated into Portuguese:)

@NicoleCRust very interested in getting this book but $100 in Brazilian currency is about 500 bucks. If anyone has other options, I'll be very thankful.

As our community shifts toward embracing the complexity of the brain, this new book by Xiao-Jing Wang will be an essential go-to. He is among a small, prescient group that embraced important ideas before the rest of us. Here he unpacks them. 1/2 taylorfrancis.com/books/mono/10.…

The unparalleled XJ Wang has written a book about the computations underlying cognition. I read a draft version and it is awesome. He is not on social media, so I am sharing it on his behalf :)

I'm always excited to see where he's looking next. On that - bingo! - read this quote from his book. If you want to jump on this train and be a part of where it's heading, Wang's book is an excellent place to start. 2/2

My lab at @NYU_CNS is recruiting trainees at all levels starting in Jan 2025! Our goal is to understand how behavioral variables such as calorie intake and time estimates are computed using molecules inside individual neurons. stephenzhanglab.org

Is conscious access emerging from the brain architecture? We tacckled the question by building a connectome based model and identified key aspects of brain architecture that enable ignition-like dynamics. See how the same cue can either faint away or trigger an ignition 🔥🔥.
