You child's desperation for outside approval is a measure of your home's weakness. Two things every father must build: 1. A home culture so strong your kids know who they are before they walk out the front door. Where they belong. Where they matter more than the random kid down the street. Children who are secure at home don't beg for acceptance from strangers. 2. A pattern of saying "yes." Say yes more often in small things. Let them pick the movie. Let them stay up an extra thirty minutes. Then when you say "no" to the friend who's rotting their character, that "no" lands like a velvet hammer instead being another "no" amidst the background noise. Build the house, then guard the door.

The young women I speak with, not feminists at all, are reading what men say about them online. What colour their labia is, what their breasts look like, whether or not they are without all body hair, how "normal" porn use is, and then the consistent stories of middle aged men cheating or the comments they make about women. They don't want to date men who watch porn, and maybe in days gone by women weren't so aware of what men said about them. We didn't have such a birds eye view into men's thoughts and conversations about sex and women, but these young women do and they don't like it. A girl meets a boy who she likes and she can instantly see all the OFs women he's following or liking online. A huge green flag is men without social media. And I know some brainiac is going to say women are watching porn too, which may well be true, but clearly it's harming relationships so nothing good will ever come of that marketing dream. In addition there are huge court cases about supposedly normal older men getting strangers to rape their unconscious wife, which means even the boring happily married ones are fucking pricks. Rape is up, sexual assault, paedophilia is on the news every day.... poor brown men up to rich white elites... every section has representation. This is, obviously, not all men. But it's so many of them, or it certainly would seem so. Even the supposed "right on lefty" men are raging misogynists who don't even know what a woman is. And of course the lie that men and women can operate sexually the same has come home to roost.
