Thrilled to be featured on @techreview and have the opportunity to share my views about freedom, beauty, and how technology and creativity intersect with our human experience. Thank you @TateRyMo for this opportunity! Please read, and I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Demand for face filters on Instagram and other visual platforms remains high, despite their negative effect on users' mental health and Meta's efforts to ban some of them. trib.al/N0YuzjP

I’ve been testing @trimelius for a video workflow, and I really enjoyed taking the creative director seat while the agent managed the technicalities. Especially helpful for keeping the focus on the vision without breaking creative flow. Workflow in the comments 💕

what do you do for work? well, it depends. sometimes butterflies come out of chrysalis, sometimes I help you reprocess ptsd, other times I turn you into a superhero, let you explore a stadium or a museum, give you a cool outfit. rn I’m making candles float and a tarot card game.

@AntoniaRForster I wouldn't bother with trying to experience C# outside of Unity. It'd be the same stuff, just less exciting 🙃 I would recommend a lot the content from Charles Amat and his YT channel "Infallible Code". It's full of solid, useful and well explained videos.

I'm a self-taught C#/Unity dev, so there's some holes in my knowledge - for example, I've never used C# outside of Unity! What learning resources would you recommend? Beginner courses are way too basic, but advanced courses may mean I leave fundamental gaps... 😅

@xochiworld As a coder, I say: no, you can't. You can't access depth data because it's just not supported. You can't run a decent ML using JS. You can't do a lot of things no matter how skilled you are, it's just a web tech limitation, unfortunately. That's why I hate it 😁

Why I love social #AR so much: while "regular" AR requires downloading an app and every experience has a different user flow / UX, social AR filters are consistent, launch almost instantly, and the content and app link can be instantly shared to millions of users.

@Enuriru c'mon! there's lot of other examples there. what about playing multiple multiplayer games, with different levels, with real time notifications between players, with your own customized character, tracking a real world location?

@xochiworld I've seen this. All this stuff is very basic 😁 a 3D model of a car with a color picker? 3D model of a sandwich? Animated 3D models near a coke can? Superior? lol

@Enuriru they don't need to provide each and single one of these features built-in, if you code you can build solutions for each use case, that's the fun part!

@xochiworld Unfortunately, a-frame and 8thwall don't provide the things I named earlier, or they work ridiculously bad and slow even on modern devices. what about webxr, it's so bad that it doesn't even worth discussing lol.

@xochiworld I currently use webAR only for experiences when I need networking. Doing some cool stuff with server-side ML 😬 For other cases socials are still the best

@Enuriru I'm talking about webar as in web based AR experiences, which you can create using three.js / a-frame / 8th wall / Unity to name a few and plug in almost every api available and create experiences way superior to a filter, maybe you're talking about the webxr api???

@xochiworld ML? LiDAR/Depth? Body Tracking/Reconstruction? Gestures recognition? Spatial tracking? Multisurface tracking? Spatial Audio? Render Pipeline? NO for all or works awful. webAR doesn't have the basic features that ARKit had 5 years ago, not even talking about advanced stuff...

@dweekly back in the 90s chatGPT bedtime stories was my dad. my brother and I would give him a prompt night after night and he would take 1-2 min to process and then come up with the most creative stories. you just brought back a core memory 💕

ChatGPT bedtime stories, with a prompt of the children's choosing. This is our new nighttime ritual and it's kind of nerdy and adorable.

@Enuriru I agree mostly with the advantages you mentioned about social ar and I do go for it for certain use cases. specially when priority is reach, but I get the feeling you’re a bit out of date on what you can achieve with webar.

@xochiworld 3/ “creative/tech freedom” in webAR is ridiculous. There are some unique features available (eg networking or video payback), but in general, it’s years behind any social platform, it lacks of features. 99% of what you can do is to place a 3D model on an unstable tracker.
