🚨 BREAKING BLOBSPACE NEWS 🚨 Now that Fusaka is live, we're noticing something interesting with blob transactions as we test our updated BlobKit. Here's what we're seeing: Quick reminders: - Blobs = chunks of temporary data (~18 day lifespan) - Blobspace = the area in each Ethereum block where blobs get stored Pre-Fusaka: Blob fee floor was basically zero (~1 wei). You paid almost nothing, your blob got included, done. Post-Fusaka: EIP-7918 raised the blob fee floor to ~0.01 gwei. Still cheap in dollar terms, but 10,000,000x higher than before. Every ~12 seconds, Ethereum produces a new block. Each block has limited blobspace. Validators decide which transactions make it in and they prioritize by fee. Whoever pays more gets in first. We're seeing blob transactions sitting in the mempool, not getting included block after block. Blob transactions aren't being rejected - they're just not getting included. Is this just fee prioritization, or is there builder censorship happening with blob transactions? We're researching this now, and encourage others to do the same. 🚨 We have identified the issue and have a quick workaround. All nodes should disable Prysm to unnecessarily generate old states to process outdated attestation. To do this, simply add the following flag to your beacon node. This flag works with v7.0.0 and you do not need to update the beacon node beyond adding this flag. No change is required for validator clients. "--disable-last-epoch-targets"

Fun fact: I’d switched to Prysm to fix my last crash… and this morning my validator was stuck again 😅 Luckily, the @prylabs provided a quick fixed And thanks to Ethereum’s client diversity, the network didn’t even flinch x.com/prylabs/status…

Me last week when my validator crashed and I had to switch consensus clients. But in the end, it synced quickly and everything was fixed.

@vladezy_ if ethereum wants the best path to have post quantum zk that is scalable they know where to find it. Instead of reinventing Cairo (with the leanVM) they could just embrace it and benefit from existing tooling and apps etc

To the mfers that are saying that Vitalik is fudding his own coin, just now that Ethereum is preparing for MANY YEARS to the quantum threat. It was LITERALLY one of the design goal of Ethereum 2.0, more than 6 YEARS AGO. He is just more honest that everyone pretending that this threat does not exist, and despite started to prepare for it for years, he is still calling for an acceleration on this to take it even more seriously and be ready on time.

Here is a quick overview of EIPs that promote validator consolidation, before tomorrow’s ACDC! The fast finality roadmap requires consolidation, to allow more stake to weigh in on consensus decisions with less overhead. We therefore wish to nudge stakers in this direction.
