@deStreetMaster @AfricanHub_ And if they can't, besides who are the "they"?
English

@AfricanHub_ They will assassinate him soon. Enjoy while it lasts.

In just two years under President Ibrahim Traoré's leadership in Burkina Faso:
1. The country's GDP rose from around $18.8 billion to $22.1 billion.
2. He turned down loans from the IMF and World Bank, declaring: “Africa has no need for the World Bank, IMF, Europe, or America.”
3. He cut ministers' and parliamentarians' salaries by 30% while raising civil servants' pay by 50%.
4. He fully cleared Burkina Faso’s domestic debts.
5. He launched the country’s first two tomato processing plants.
6. In 2023, he opened a modern gold mine to boost local refining capacity.
7. He ended the export of unprocessed gold from Burkina Faso to Europe.
8. He constructed Burkina Faso’s second cotton processing facility (the country previously had just one).
9. He established the nation’s first National Support Center for Artisanal Cotton Processing to help small-scale cotton farmers.
10. He prohibited British-style legal wigs and gowns in courts, replacing them with traditional Burkinabé clothing.
11. He supported agriculture by distributing more than 400 tractors, 239 tillers, 710 motor pumps, and 714 motorcycles to farmers and rural communities.
12. He supplied improved seeds and essential agricultural inputs to increase yields.
13. Tomato output grew from 315,000 metric tonnes in 2022 to 360,000 metric tonnes in 2024.
14. Millet production climbed from 907,000 metric tonnes in 2022 to 1.1 million metric tonnes in 2024.
15. Rice production rose from 280,000 metric tonnes in 2022 to 326,000 metric tonnes in 2024.
16. He banned French military operations on Burkinabé soil.
17. He prohibited French media outlets from operating in Burkina Faso.
18. He expelled French troops from the country.
19. His administration is actively building new roads, expanding existing ones, and upgrading gravel roads to paved surfaces.
20. Construction is underway on the new Ouagadougou-Donsin Airport, set for completion in 2025, with an annual capacity of 1 million passengers.

@DtalksZA7 @AfricanHub_ You are black and would definitely see things differently
The west has never believed in us and so comprehending what's going on is a bit difficult and strange to them but they will be convinced eventually
English

@AfricanHub_ You mean to tell me he took governance to better the lives of his people and dignify them? And we supposed to hate on this because?
English

@CarlsonVChan @AfricanHub_ Everyone must lean on another as a backbone
Even America leans on Israel
English

@AfricanHub_ What is not mentioned here is that he quietly received financial support from China
💰💰💰
English

@Muddytoesies @AfricanHub_ True but we are where we are right now...let the future handle itself
English

@AfricanHub_ Muslim or not, for the time being he is impartial to the needs of his local economy. The only problem is that Africa is too mineral rich for the rest of the world to stay away. There will be blood, there will be "accidents" and the role of leadership will be transferred again.
English

@BenTaddesse @AfricanHub_ Not when they are working to discredit him and his government and whoever said only the french media can do it
English

@AfricanHub_ “17. He prohibited French media outlets from operating in Burkina Faso.” One of these things is not a good thing…
English

@nojesusnopeas @AfricanHub_ Well, however it turns out would be an African problem to deal with so, let's just say we leave it at that
English

@AfricanHub_ And criminalized homosexuality, and canceled elections.
Idk, I'd like to root for this guy, but I don't care for the authoritarianism and propaganda and regressive social policies, and his economic success feels a little Hugo Chavez-y, and we all know how that turned out...
English

@Davidm018768601 @AfricanHub_ At least he's not interested in killing Jews or would you rather we allow foreigners to run and exploit our lands so we don't end up doing what Hitler did?
English

@AfricanHub_ Lol its awesome how fast you all love national socialism as long as it isn't a white person. I agree with everything he did, but you do realize this is the same thing Hitler did right?
English

@peterclavera1 @thenff @NGSuperEagles It was never a penalty shootout
We lost 2-1 after amunike was subbed
English

@thenff @NGSuperEagles Nigeria lost to Italy on penalty shoot out in the round of 16 in a match highly dominated by our lovely Super Eagles when they carelessly allowed the Italians to level the score on injury time. Nigeria also defeated Spain 3-2 in that competition, coming 2nd in their group.
English

Happy birthday to former @NGSuperEagles coach, Afcon 94 winner , Clemens Westerhof who is 83 today. We wish you all the best and thank you for the memories coach

English

@ezirim_stanley @thenff @NGSuperEagles When an outsider brings glory to your father's home, don't you think not celebrating him would prove you ungrateful?
English

@thenff @NGSuperEagles Celebrating an outsider, how about the players that he used to win it who aren't doing well, do you celebrate them too??

One major reason Nigeria has so far performed poorly at the Paris Olympics was because our attention, as a nation, was diverted by the so-called Days of Rage protests. As a result of this distraction, our athletes did not get the vital home support and encouragement that was crucial to them performing at their best. They could not feed off the energy of their fans, followers, and fellow citizens because the nation was wracked by this protest.
If we were not so distracted, Tobi Amusan and Favour Ofili could have done much better and perhaps won medals. And our government could have helped fight for Chidinma in South Africa. But, how can a government be chasing beauty pageants when their house is on fire?
Did we not see how Hilda Baci broke a Guinness World Record because she had the undivided support and attention of Nigerians?
The protests themselves were unnecessary. But even if I am wrong and they were necessary, why now? They were poorly timed. Why arbitrarily call a protest to coincide with the start of the Olympics' athletics, basketball and football events, which were our strong points? The protests could have been called before or after these events. It is almost like a hostile nation sponsored the promoters to throw Nigeria off kilter.
The promoters, planners and implementers of this protest really robbed Nigeria of a lot. They have systematically destroyed much of the Northern economy, while sparing the regional economy of the promoters, reduced our international reputation as a good destination for Foreign Direct Investment, and also undermined our Olympic aspirations.
And what have the protests achieved? You tell me. I cannot pick one positive thing that it has achieved.
