We often think of survival as an individual act. But when facing hardship together, social groups may function more like a unified system than a collection of separate individuals Excited to share our latest work @NatureNeuro on collective social dynamics rdcu.be/e8LrV

Happy and honored to be a part of this huge team effort across different disciplines! Shout out to Dr. Nguyen Phi who's not on TWITTER for doing all the heavy lifting.

Elon Musk says that no one has died because he slashed humanitarian aid. I went to South Sudan to check if that's true. It's not. Within an hour of starting interviews, I had the names of a 10-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl who had died because of decisions by wealthy men in Washington. The visit that moved me the most was to a remote area that used to have no health care, where women routinely died in childbirth. Then a US-funded maternity clinic opened through @UNFPA in December, and not one woman has died since. I showed up, and people mistakenly thought I was responsible for the clinic. One new mom wanted to name her baby for me, and the village elders thanked me and hailed America's generosity. What they didn't know was that Trump/Musk had cut all funding for UNFPA and that as a result the maternity clinic will close this month, and women will once again be bleeding to death in the dust. Here's a giftlink to my report from ground level about what the shutdown of USAID means: nytimes.com/interactive/20…

@JDVance So it's ok to let this guy ruin the lives of thousands of people who did nothing wrong, but removing him over some dumb shit he surely sad not too long ago breaks your heart.

Here’s my view: I obviously disagree with some of Elez’s posts, but I don’t think stupid social media activity should ruin a kid’s life. We shouldn’t reward journalists who try to destroy people. Ever. So I say bring him back. If he’s a bad dude or a terrible member of the team, fire him for that.

Anyone consider that maybe Elon’s mission, is for Elon to get what he wants, rather than the country to get what you voted for ? It’s not a shock for Elon , or anyone, to put their personal goals first Elon seems to be on a mission to protect brand Elon at all costs. No ? Free Speech is everything. Until it’s anything related to Elon. Who has complete control over speech here on X The censorship of the platform you adore is in the hands of a single person, who is on a mission to make himself the most powerful person in the world. above and beyond the President of the United States.

@jared_ninos @hubermanlab @elonmusk @NIH In a world where a janitor is screened for coi before hiring but the president elect could easily launch meme coins, I'd say anything is possible. The law is a joke only if you are powerful enough to laugh at it

@hubermanlab @elonmusk @NIH Serious question, does doge have the authority to do something like that? I’m very uncomfortable with giving rich people blanket access to things like this just because they donated heavily to a campaign

Hey @elonmusk & DOGE: willing to eventually share the budget expenditures of @NIH from the last 4 years? Many other prior & currently @NIH funded labs (& those aspiring for funding) were surprised the Brain Research Initiative was cut by 40% Where did this and other funds go?

@ianmiles My experience(common sense) is that if it's real corruption, it normally wouldn't be so easily revealed by a public system. You should try your luck in some vips' tax form next time

The US Government gave the New York Times tens of millions of dollars over just the past 5 years despite paying relatively little money to the NYT in the years preceding 2021. For instance, in August 2024, the US government awarded $4.1 million to the NYT. The bulk of the funds came from the US Department of Health and Human Services at $26.90m, followed by the National Science Foundation at $19.15m
